Omg,is that what you call muska ?!
We have same thing too, they call it Hicap.

Of course im with you, nothing of above related to İslam in any bit of it,even it considered haram to believe in such things 'Muska'
And same for the evil eye nazarlık,or Fatema's hand, ect
We have them all too and all are rubbish !
İm Muslim, and it has nothing to do with İslam.
We practice some like nazarlık 'here its Turquoise stone' we give it as a gift when a baby born to draw people attention to the stone away from the baby, something like that.
But its out of tradition not out of İslam, only ignorants, and non educated who believe its an İslamic thing .
İnfact İslam doesnt encourage things like that.

Quoting AlphaF:

That is what is correct Canli...Most Turks and Turkish Kurds agree with you..

But it will not make your friend Ciko happy...He has other ideas..

Not from what i've read AlphaF,
He fulfilled his army service,he support the currant government ' as he's said in other forms'
You just prejudged him now,did he tell you he has other ideas ?

From his post,i see he just ask for equality from people.
To look at Kurdish as equal to them.
Nation 'Türkiye' is giving them that right by law,but not people.
Open your heart for them, let them melt in you,and at same time respect their own identity
Look at Canada for example, all of them has different races, but in the end they all are Canadians, respecting their differences.

Pardon my question if it sounded ignorant, but isnt there a union or something, informal not formal gather Kurdish Turkish together and can talk by their names ?
They can state they are against PKK,and they are fulfilling their duty towards their country 'Türkiye' by fighting in the army against them
Wont this calm the Nationalism a little bit specially in the youngest generations ?

Ps: ciko,im sorry for what you had to go through,as i can see it,its your country as same as its anyones else country
You have your rights and you should fulfill your duties.
No one has the right to tell anyone if he is citizen or not, what gave anyone that right ?
What made him better than the other and judge them ?!

Türkiye have many people from different places as it was a big Empire in the past,so anyone who is not a Turkish till his great, great grandpa should leave too ?!

İm sorry for the racism posts you had to read here
And anyone think that way,in my opinion does NOT love his country, does NOT love Türkiye,he is going to sperate it and make it weak.

Remember that old man story ?
The one who was going to die and called his 7 sons and give each one a stick and ask them to break it ?
İt's broken, but when he collect the 7 sticks together and asked them to break them all together, they couldnt, they were too strong for them..
So,better keep the sticks together, many peopel out there want to break it,be smart and dont help them !

There is a saying i remember now ' ALLAH, protect me from my friends,as for my enemies i can handle them very well'!

ohh CANLI you made me laugh , you asked turkish man about word it's Original is arabic ,this word use for swearing too in eloquent Arabic language. but in these days use a few .

Actually Elham, its not that easy to seperate,as you know we lived together for many years, and there are many mixed words either Arabic origin in Turkish ,or Turkish origin in Arabic,i just knew that when i started to learn Turkish that we use words we dont know what it exactly means, specially they are not arabic words !
And we have many words like that too, each day i discover a new oneç
For example,we say in Egyptian Arabic Oda for the room, which its originally Hucra in Arabic.
İ only knew oda is a turkish word last year, also we have a great and beautiful garden here in Egypt,we call it Orman,we didnt know what it means, till i knew its Turkish and means forest.
So as for swearing words,we used to use those 3 words, but nowadays, its common to use vellahi, and billahi,so i thought as long as they use it too, maybe they know what it means.
On second thought,i come to think about it,it may means 3,as you know the strong oath is to swear by ALLAH name 3 times, and 3 means 'Talate ' İn Egytian arabic,so it may means vellahi, billahi 'tallahi' ,is the third oath.
Mmmmmm,so maybe they just took it from us ? lol

Quoting caliptrix:

I am not good at Arabic, but as far as I know, "v", "b" and "t" prefixes shows a swear about the word which they fixed. Here, we use "vallahi", "billahi" and "tallahi" all of them are swearing on the name of god (allah). According to some Islam resources, it means: "if what I say is false, I accept that there is no god". That means, "I am swearing on my belief". Because if you say "there is no god", you cannot be muslim. So, it literally has a big swear (oath). But I see that many people has no idea about this meaning, and they use these words so easily. Such as habitance/reflex. If someone doesn't believe him, he says "vallahi...".

caliptrix, you are good in arabic by the explain above
some people when promise or swearing use the name of God to confirm that their promise is sincere, so usually use these words ( vallahi", "billahi" and "tallahi )to swear among people which have the same meaning

İ second this too.you are good
We use those words, and its should be very strong oath as you said, but again, here too people taking it easily.
But i have a question too, what does tallahi means ?

İ mean, vallahi,is 2 words ve and ALLAH ,means im swearing by ALLAH name
And billahi, is 2 words too,'Be' 'ALLAH' means with ALLAH name, 'Be' like LI in Turkish
So what does tallahi means ?
İ know its another swear but what does 'ta ' refer to ?

Thank you caliptrix,i've enjoyed reading your explanation
Btw,Mesele in arabic mean 'for example'

Thank you, I thought there was a difference between mesela and mesele. We say "mesela" = "for example", but mesele sounds like topic or in another meaning: "problem"

İ didnt know you have these word too
İ thought you just pronounce mesele with 'e' instead as we pronounce it with 'a'
İn that case ,yes you are right, and we use them same as you do.

Quoting Trudy:

Welcome back Trudy, glad that you've enjoyed it
Actually puplic transportation here is not that good,it has many leveles
Luxe ones and regular ones, even in buses inside town too,one with airconditions, and comfy chairs, and one very crowded and with no airconditions.
So we depend on the private cars, and you could hire a car for a day by '20$' i guess maybe it can be a bit more for tourists.
And that is same in trains too, there is the 'Spanish train' and 'express train' i believe those are the good ones,im not sure which one is better than the others, but the good one take the journey from Cairo to Luxor in 6 hours.
İ personally prefer plane in that long distance, its not expensive 'about 60$ ' and it takes only 1 hour.

No tea ?!tea and Şişe are famous in Hüssin, you should've gone to Khan El Khalili while you are in Cairo, you would smell the History there, its lovely, eating Kebab,or Küşari, and Fetir 'something like pide' are famous too along with many cafe's there.
Anyway,welcome back
