Ahhhh.. you can never predict these things. There are some 90+´s running around doing business, while some 50+´s are in nursing homes needing help with using the bathroom... Confused

But of course....I think the object is to be functional, as well as have the will to function.  I don´t think many want to be in nursing homes at any age, at least not without the prospect of getting out in a reasonable amount of time.  Actually, will has more to do with it.

Some are able to contribute with very limited resources.....Stephen Hawkins comes to mind.

Quoting lady in red

Bir þey deðil.  She has a gallery reasonably near to where my sister lives - although I never heard of her before.  I think we might try to visit next time we are back in England.

Lucky you! Her horses are beautiful, they look like Arabians.  My cousins had a couple Arabians.  She manages to have so much movement in her work.  I saw she also has other creatures....like a bear.

Just noticed she has a book...........I may buy it....Cool

My greatgrandmother died at 118! true, for the last 3 years of her life she´d do nothing but lie in bed and pray. My grandma, who was taking care of her, was ashamed of the elderly senior as "people don´t live that long". BTW, my grandma is at good health at the age of 90 and my grandpa died at 96 (having smoked and drunk all life long). I hope I haven´t inherited this "almost-immortal" gene lol

Amazing....I also have some long life genes...not as long as you though...mone only got to 100!  A long life is not always what it´s cracked up to be though.  I´ve seen too many older people who can hardly move, can´t see, pee or chew......alive only at the mercy of those taking care of me..........please just let me go.  I think if i am able to interact with life....contribute in a meaningfull way....it´s nice...........but to be an ugly old dehydrated vegetable is not something I would like.

........... I think government can hide anything and do whatever they want.  They are answerable to no one because there is no higher authority in the land..........................

..........But we are getting away from the point.....My point was that people can not expect governments to take care of them and do the right thing....... We have so many homes here in Texas that are build on flood plains and during Hurricane Ike many ended up under water.  The government has paid for these people to rebuild on the same plots of land......

The difference is in what is supposed to happen.  Of course people in government attempt to hide things, and they often succeed..........but there are things like the FOIA act and the fact that they are accountable.   It is up to us to demand it.

Remember, we elect these people! The Us government is "of the people, by the people, and for the people."

As for those homes in a flood plain...who zoned it for homes?  You are a Texan, go after them?  Shine a light on it.  It is possible the home owners were ignorant, but the ones who zoned it are required to know.

When people get money for destroyed homes in fire zones, flood plaines or other inappropriate places, I think it should it should be specified they rebuild in safe zones.  That would save money and preserve delicate ecco systems too.

The lawsuit, filed Nov. 16, names store owner Carrols Corp. and seeks damages for pain and suffering, emotional duress and medical expenses.

There was no comment from Burger King or Carrols.

Ewww...how really disgusting! It probably was a disgrunteled employee.  There have been numerous reports of employees taking venting their frustration in rather disgusting manners.

That is one of the reasons I hate to eat out.

Private enterpise helps restore peace in homeland...Look how Blackwater strives to despatch all junkies, hoodlums, unemployed etc to Iraq.

Keep USA clean  is their motto.

If you think I am wrong, go sue them !Wink

Blackwater is no more.  It has been rebranded as Xe.

"Xe is a private military contractor co-founded by former Navy Seal Erik Prince.  It was formerly called Blackwater Worldwide, and before that Blackwater USA.  In February 2009, Blackwater changed its name to "Xe," (pronounced like the letter "Z"), as part of a "rebranding" effort aimed at helping the company distance itself from negative incidents.........."

Exactly!!! Private corporate tyrannies don´t even need to care about anything but their own profit, and they do it at any cost! (even if that means killing people, destroying the environment...)

There are some social issues that only a government can take care of, and in a functioning democracy, the government is responsible for its actions. Unfortunately, we can´t say that about the system in the US... people are apathetic and the government does not even care what people think!

It is also about transparancy.  Private businesses, corporations, do not have to disclose things to the public.  Private corporations are opaque.  Government has to keep books open.  You know who is responsible for what.  Thus they can be help accountable.

The issue is one of accountability.

My heart caught fire it burns oh burns
hope is its only solace, it keeps hoping oh hoping

her baby hands were so white and and the nails polished
where would I hide the calluses on my palms

yesterday her car came to our garage for repairs
I fell for her immediately at first sight

she wore a long skirt and her hair was curly
my master yelled for me from a far:  sonnie get your stuff, will you!

I had read something like this in a novel
it was a pricey book and had  a glossy sleeve

this way or another the young girl too fell for the apprentice
in a setting almost exactly like this

I begged my master to let me lose the pullovers just for today
I tidied up my hair using my cheap pocket mirror

She would come back today to reclaim the car
Maybe she would make the dream in that story come true

Time froze and the world stood still as she entered
I just kept staring at her not being able to look elsewhere

then I opened the door of the car to let her in
her crescent shaped eye-brows raised in anger and asked who´d this jerk be

she went away in that car leaving me in fumes
tear drops were forming in my eyes as I slowly raised

my master came by me saying forget about those novels
you are a worker, put on the pullovers and continue to be one

Thank you!

I´ve seen/heard that video before, liked it, but wondered just what it was about. Althuogh the video sort of gives one an idea.  Now I can listen, follow the words and have a better idea of what is being going on.

Such a dramatic song and video....!
