Excuse me, but could you clarify just what you are talking about? I am thinking it is this:

"Türküm, doğruyum, çalışkanım. Yasam, küçüklerimi korumak, büyüklerimi saymak, yurdumu, budunumu özümden çok sevmektir. Ülküm, yükselmek, ileri gitmektir. Varlığım Türk varlığına armağan olsun.

English:

I am Turkish, honest and hardworking. My principle is to protect the younger to respect the elder, to love my homeland and my nation more than myself. My ideal is to rise, to progress. My existence shall be dedicated to the Turkish existence."

As a citizen of a country, IOW not stateless, you have an obligation to defend it. This is a basic requirment of citizenship of any country.

I think your translation is a watered down translation

It starts with ´I am a Turk´. There are people in Turkey and they dont call themselves Turks.

That is as simple as that. (think of German kids starting their school days with "I am a german", or English kids, "I am an English"(

The oat as it was itself a DIVIDING element in Turkey.

It was dividing people.

The basic requirement of a citizenship is being a good citizen not a racist citizen.

This oat was part of an engineering project of the people: Making them Turk and Sunni.

In Turkey there is an idiom ´deli gomlegi giymek/giydirmek´ which can be translated as ´putting on a straight jacket´. A straight jacket was put on people in Turkey  in 1920s/1930s. And it was forced not to take it off for many years.

Although it is late but we are beginning to wake up.

if you find these racist then you should talk about them as well. when you open 549834593453 turkish-racist threads that do nothing but to degrade turkism and turkey, you automatically flag yourself as a one-sided subjective popularist hater

I do find our oat racist.

As long as you come and defend these racist crap, I will say that it is racist.

It is as racist as the oats german pupils chanted theirs to Hitler, as racist as oats chanted in Italy for Musollini.

This is 2013..not 1930s..

Racism has to go!!

its not racist. its nationalist. because turkey is a nation, not an ethnic race. there are around 200 different turkish ethnicities in the world, 75 of them present in modern turkey.

this is the anthem of germany:

German women, German loyalty,
German wine and German song
Shall retain in the world
Their old beautiful chime
And inspire us to noble deeds
During all of our life.
 |: German women, German loyalty,
German wine and German song! :|

there are 16 million non-germans living in germany.

anthem of france:

What does this horde of slaves,
Of traitors and conjured kings want?
For whom are these vile chains,
These long-prepared irons? (repeat)
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
What fury it must arouse!
It is us they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!

of england:

And did those feet in ancient time.
Walk upon Englands mountains green:
And was the holy Lamb of God,
On Englands pleasant pastures seen!

And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

i guess none of these countries you count as humane since theyre all racist pigs.

so stop with your "racism has to go from humane societies" bullshit. all you want is to degrade turkish people.

It is racist.

Its racism is coming from 1930s Europe.

Half way civilized countries abandoned  these racist oats and pledges long time ago.

Insisting on a racist oat is embarrassing for Turkish people.

Racism has to go!!!!

Nur exhibition shines light on Islamic art

Spain has begun hosting an exhibition ‘Nur: Light in Art, Science from the Islamic World,’ which features 140 works from Muslim countries

Appropriately for a region that was once home to a Muslim polity that remains famous for its advances in art and learning, the southern Spanish area of Andalusia has begun showcasing a collection of Muslim art from across time and across the continents.

“Deriving its title from the Arabic word for light in both the physical and metaphysical sense, ‘Nur’ has been organized thematically into two major sections: an art section showcasing innovations in artistic technique that enhance the effect of light, and a section focusing on scientific fields which are related to light or contributed to enlightenment,” said the organizer of the “Nur: Light in Art and Science from the Islamic World” exhibition in Seville, the Focus-Abengoa Association.

..

The exhibition includes 140 pieces of art from 17 Muslim countries around the world. The works are all hand-made and were made between the ninth and 20th centuries.

..

“Light is a very important part and concept in Islam and it is always something that talked about. The unveiling of Islamic arts mean light and light played an important part in this creation, especially in metaphysical form,” said Dr. Sabiha al-Khemir, an Islamic art and culture expert who helped organize the new show.

Encompassing works from a wide geographical area, from Spain to Central Asia, the exhibition will include manuscripts illuminated with gold and color pigments, ceramics painted with luster, inlay metalwork decorated in silver and gold, and objects made from precious and semi-precious stones.

-------------------

“Light is a very important part and concept in Islam" I completely agree with the statement. Infact Architect Sinan was the master of using lights in his constructions. His master piece Selimiye mosque is a great example as you would feel as if the light is flooding into the mosque itself

I think people who have signed into this web-site [for the purpose of learning Turkish] has had enough of  seeing  this stupid argument about racism on the front page.

I completely agree, however, if we all close our eyes to the racism NOW, these racists will  do it again.

Some people should stand up against these things.. If there were not brave anti-racist Americans, some still be burning blacks in the States.

perhaps he called you ARGO because his use of english was not good enough

Well he did not say that in English it was in Turkish. So he knew very well what he was saying. What he did not realize that racism is a no go area in a civilized society.

Infact, we have many racist comments like that. Some of them simply swearing of Armenians or Greeks etc. Their origins and motives are the the exactly the same as tge guys who waves bananas to Drogba:

Same low level, same racism.

0.46%,

What´s wrong with it? I call one of my close friends as Corc (George) simply because he admires anything American (movies, books, TV serials).

And you are acting (and sounding) an Armenian here. Hence the name.

Besides you always tell you are a Turk but you not sounding one to me.

For example I have doubts that your native language is Turkish. I regularly wath grammar section and I never saw you give any explaination about Turkish grammar (contrary to the other Turks who always try to help foreigners for their questions). Probably because you don´t have a good knowledge of Turkish. If you were to do it, I could easily spot any mistake you might do.

He he

The real owner of racist comment is here lol

Calling a Turk with and ARMENIAN NAME IN THE CONTEXT you use is AS RACIST As getting  caught on the camera by waving a banana to black players or calling whites as negro  when you are angry with that person in the context of racism.

Your explanation is more pathetic than the guy who caught on the camera waving a banana :" he was hungry, happens to hold a banana to eat "

You prefer the red or purple colour in your tshirt selection?
