this is ridiculous. on what basis? could it be the health and safety issues or anti-terrorist rules if you carry it in your hand bag? otherwise its quite weird.

After an explosive material was discovered in a bottle of water by terrorists, all liquids must be carried in the suitcase and not in your handluggage. You can take 100ml of fluids (like fluid make up or medicines) in your handluggage, but must be sealed in a plastic-see-through bag that you can obtain at the airport. First al liquids were forbidden, but when they found out the explosive material needs to be in a larger amount, 100ml is now allowed again.
Liquids bought from the taxfree-shop however, can be taken in hand-luggage.

When I went from Holland to İzmir last time, I brought 4 bottles of alcohol: 2 baileys, a whisky and a Dutch gin. I just took them in the yellow-tax-free bag. My bags were opened in Holland before boarding, and it was no problem. They didnt get opened when I arrived in Turkey, so I dont know if that might be a problem.

Travelling from the UK we are not allowed to carry any liquids over 50 ml. in our hand luggage. However, once through check-in and security checks, liquids of any kind bought in the Duty Free Shops (perfume, alcohol, suntan cream etc.) can be taken on board the plane. And yes, this is an anti-terrorist measure. Same rules apply when travelling from the US.

The same rules apply when traveling anywhere in the world I believe and in China, if you have water you have to drink some first if you want to take it with you.
Can considering how serious the threat of terrorism is, I think it is a small price to pay, not being able to take liquids, etc.
I witnessed a ridiculous argument between a British man and Turkish security in Dalaman airport. The idiot had a knife fork and spoon on him. They tried to confiscate it and he went beserk. Lucky not to be arrested. They kindly accommodated his temper trantrum and took the cutlery from him and gave it back to him when we landed. Now me? I would have refused the ignorant git!!

I have a question about electronics. I have my own personal laptop and I got a laptop for my friend that I will be visiting in Turkey. Will customs allow me to do this? Or if anyone knows who I can contact about this issue. I would hate to get there and them not allow me to give him his laptop or even let me take my own with me.

As long as I know, one laptop is allowed, but you should be ok with two.
I will be flying to Turkey in August, with 4 laptops, 3 of which will be a gift to friends. I will let you know my experience if you are planning to travel at a date later than August

You will probably be there during Ramadan. It starts this year around September the 12th more or less. That's the religous event during which time those who observe Islam do not eat, drink or smoke from sunup to sundown.
It is a very special time in Turkey. At sundown people stop what they are doing and sit down and eat. It's really quite beautiful.

When going through security in England you are not allowed any liquids over 100ml and all liquids under must go in a plastic bag. Alcohol allowance in England it is 1 litre but coming back from Turkey it is 2 litres and 600 cigarettes.

Are you sure????? The allowance for bringing back tobacco and alcohol from NON EU countries is 1 litre alcohol and 200 cigarettes. Where did you hear this from?

Well it said in the a booklet on the Onur Air airline allowance and it said in Turkley = 2 Litres and 600 cigs
