vedetiyorum untumayarakım |
bod, canım, look:
im guessing u know that the stem of the verb has to be taken so i wont bother to explain that...
söz vermek= to promise (literally: to give a promise)
söz ver-iyor-um= the "um" on the end makes it personal to u
unutmak= to forget
unut-maya-cağım=
-maya-: implies that the action wont be done
-cağım: makes it personal to u.
more examples:
git-meye-ceğim= im not gonna go (proper eng: i wont go)
koş-maya-cağım
bekle-meye-ceğim
kalk-maya-cağım

Yes!
I added -iyor-um
But used a different verb........
vadetmek - to promise
I'm guessing this is an obsolete verb???
vadetiyorum - I promise ???

Sorry about the dictionary bod. There are many mistakes. Vadetmek has a different meaning than to promise, swear. It is also a very old fashioned word and is better avoided by the learners.

Now I am confused......
"I will not forget" is future tense
unutmak = to forget
unut-ma = negative
unut-ma-acak = negative future tense
unut-ma-acak-um = first person
Tidying it all up
untumayacak-um = 'y' fusion consonant
untumayacağum = consonant mutation (which I forgot originally )
So it seems we came to the same answer (except the fusion consonant) but in a very different way. You seem to have defined "maya" as being the negative but I have "ma" as the negative and the "a" of your "maya" as part of the future tense "acak"!!!

Maybe a Turkish Learner's Dictionary would be a good idea where the simple and common translations are available only. Unfortunately I dont know such a dictionary but if you have time we could write one together.
