Aziz Nesin's short story The Dance of the Eagle and the Fish is about the love between two different creatures.
Although probably not meant as such, it is an allegory of a cross-cultural relationship.
As the relationship develops the two lovers are fascinated by their opposites.
"The two entranced creatures danced, one above, one below, until darkness came and they returned to their homes in the sky and the sea."
"'Beautiful Balık,' called Kartal lovingly, showering the seas where she danced with the loveliest of mountain flowers. 'Come and live with me, I need you.'"
"'Beautiful Kartal,' Balık called back, showering the air where he danced with the loveliest of sea flowers. 'Live here with me, this is where I belong.'"

Yes, I mention it in the review. They do great work, housing and educating kids who are orphans. PLUS the proceeds of this English book go to help support the Vakıf's work.

The only problem with this as a metaphor...Eagles EAT fish! "Askim Benim I love you my darling says the fish" Eagle says, "MUUAHHHAHAA now I have you in my talons I'm going to eat you! "

He was another Turkish communist of universal reputation...He was not fameous for his communism - but for the might of his pen, his sense of humor and his humanity.
Guess what(who) haunted him all his life?

Beautiful story.
As for comunism and being comunist...
in the time this story was written, in an another place, King Ubu was performed in puppet theatres, still uncensored form of theatre...
What is beautiful is beuatiful.
Nor a man believes cannot be confounded with social mis-glidings. IMO, the latter may be far more complex than the individual and beliefs are strongly different from badly adapted idologies with undesired results.
