I don't see any reason to turn this into a political post. I simply mentioned Kaya because he was a great musician who passed away too young. I could have mentioned Barış Akarsu as well as he passed away recently but he doesn't really fit into the same musical genre.

Ahmet Kaya was really popular in Turkey until he stated that he wanted to sing songs in kurdish and he had to go into exile because nationalists were out to get him. He's made some great songs in turkish: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DBGql4ejjFM , http://youtube.com/watch?v=Bk2xkafPmEs

Anyway Kâzım Koyuncu is the musician in question here, and a great one in my opinion.

Quoting SuiGeneris:

if you have read what i am writing carefully... you wouldnt dare to write these words.. at least spend time for this... i repeat again... ahmet kaya can be good at his music... which is true... but i wouldnt compare or put him at the same class as kazim koyuncu or others...

my point is totally different... i am not saying azade that she shouldnt listen to him or what... i just say my opinion... she asked why and i said my reason... this is such simple occasion...

noone is offending or judging the other... just sharing opinions...

Sorry, saying "pity" sounds enough to judge to me. Good that you don't say you do that.

When we talk about the singers, we actually don't talk about their characters or ideas. What we talk about are generally their musical image in our minds. So when you say "pity", I would understand that you are talking about the musical image of this singer in our minds. So I would think you talk about my musical taste.

it is still pity for me to put him in the same category with Kazim Koyuncu... i also have a few mp3's of Ahmet Kaya in my archieve...

not only his/her songs or talents make a musician as an adorable person... this is my opinion...

if you are still offending this thread can go further like a chewing gum...
as a result... what we understand from music is different... and this quite normal...
