Yeap, We have been married for 4 years, and during these years, we lived under the same roof not more than a year.
I need to be here (USA - working) and she has to be in Turkey mostly for business (architect) and the pHD thing she is doing.

Quoting HomeSick:

There are funny laws here in USA such as I can work but my spouse cannot work but stay dependent on me. So my smart wife travels all around the globe and works for companies in Turkey and Europe freelance and the laws can't do a thing about it And I encourage her since it makes me madly sad that she can't practice her profession.

Is this a citizenship issue? I'm very familiar with employment law but this is not one I am familiar with. Seems ridiculous!!!

The thing is I am working here with H1B status that gives my wife the H4 status in USA, which in turn means, she can stay with me as long as she stay dependent on me.

In order to overcome this situation I must at least have a green card, which in turn means for the company to pay me at least $90k yearly, and of course the taxes they have to pay, too.

The good news is they are applying for the green card for me, again which in turns automatically changes my wife's status, too.

But the thing is I am already tired of this legal status stuff

One would think so but they were only recently reunited when handsom posted his before-and-after pictures on the CGG Hair Club website and his brother saw them.
CGG was proud to be a part of this tearful reunion and now uses them in all our publicity....just imagine what we can do for others with hair issues!!

Bureaucracy is teribble, and I can say that it becomes worse every passing year. Last summer I was in Turkey for summer a short holiday. And the company lawyer told me that while you are there, lets take care of the extension of your status here.

So I went to consulate. They told me that I need to pass a security check. I said what security check ? I am already legal and passed all the checks you guys did first time. They said the law changed.

They sent all my papers to a private investigation company in Washington!! They did investigate me, sent my papers back to Turkey so I can get the extension.

The minimum waiting time is 4 to 6 weeks. I was lucky, it took 6 weeks for me. A friend of mine had gone through the same bureaucracy, it took for him 3.5 months and he lost his job.

There are really funny laws in regards to immigration and homeland security here. And do not get me wrong, I encourage every kind of precaution, it must be done, but the idea that an illegal, wanted man comes to a consulate from the homeland on his own, applies for an extension is funny

At least it seems you can keep a sense of humor about it. That is probably not so easy to do..so kudos to you!!
