indexing the db helps with performance issues and should be done weekly on large db such as this. There may also be locks on the db's that never let go .. if I was a guessing person its all the searches for sevgilimaskimbebegimcanim, seni seviyorum, seni özliyeceğim, etc etc etc .. we know that today was valentines day so the airwaves where over powered with those kinds of txt messages. mysql can be a good running machine but only if some things are done to maintain it correctly - yes I have too much experience with db's of course it would have nothing to do with microsofts bad habit of just "locking up" and not letting go lol lol lol

Oh you are a computer geek as well!
But I am not sure that weekly reindexing!! creating the main indexes (at the db, at work) takes more than 36 hours for me..

yeeeeeeeeees sadly I am in IT lol lol mine used to take that long but once we added indexing and ran them weekly it finally got down to a manageable time. Toad also helps by allowing a script to be setup to run the indexing .. hehehe .. just don't tell anyone I'm a computer geek ok? .. can we keep it our little secret? lol lol lol

I think we should keep it as our little secret.
When you say 'I am in IT', people mostly think you are very boring and a bit weird. It is best kept as a secret.
I remember meeting this client of us, whom I spent hours on the phone, for the first time in an exhibition. She told me that she always had this image of me a man with a pony tail.. ..
Ok..it is our secret!!
btw. I am still not convinced about weekly reindexing though

a man with a pony tail? lol lol here the word "geek" conjures up someone with pocket protectors in their shirt pockets for their pens, black rimmed glasses, pants waist at their chest bone .. lol .. and no personality .. lol lol lol ..
