Burma's Shame...

So that's how it works - if international organisations dare to criticise or, what's even worse, interfere, everybody's angry at them for not minding their own business. But if they don't interfere, they're the one to blame for all the bad things that go on...

I am so glad we both understood the same thing. I was beginning to think I was in the twilight zone....

There is a problem with providing aid, who will get it? Sadly not those who are most in need, but the Junta will benefit. At the moment I think only USA and France have been able to get in with any aid or at least drop aid. When planes and helicopters are shot at, it is not easy to deliver aid even if the whole world wanted to. It is such a sad situation.

Yes Turkey gets knocked regularly but there are worse places to live.

İt is such a tragydy
İ just dont understand why the government holding the rescue effort, and why doesnt allow the foreigner help ?!
Afraid if those countries will interfear in their affairs later or what ?
Sure it seems bigger than their capability to deal with such disaster,so they will let people die just like this?!
İ agree also with MrX67 if we have stronger UN countries would be more comfortable asking and receiving for its help
Never the less its outrages letting people die just like that
And for WHAT ?!!

Quoting MrX67: world needs more stronger, powerfull and aouthorized international organizations for creat a more common and livable world.İ'm afraid things will never change with organizations like UN and planty humanity shames will be on all over world as now in Burma..And things never will change unless we don't feel pains of others in deep of our hearts... |
What the world NEEDS is for egomanical leaders like the ones in Burma to get their heads out of their asses and wake up and see what is happening to their people!
The UN....or any other organization or country for that matter.....is not responsible for the travesty that is going on there!!! The responsiblity for it rests squarely on the shoulders of the Burmese leaders but all they care about is staying in power.
The aid that is being offered to them is being taken by the Junta and distributed as they see fit....which means it will not go to the people who need it.
There are not enough words to discribe the disgust that most human beings feel for what is happening there.

GG you could not have put it any better. The blame squarly rests at the shoulders of the egotistical, meglamaniacs who "run" the country. I read yesterday that the opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest for 13 years, with just two maids and her meals are delivered daily and are are checked by guards. This house arrest has now been tightened since the disaster. What do they think she will do? A small 62 year old woman.
