Alameda, I think you are exaggerating. It is BOTH sides that need to adjust a little bit when there is a ´clash´ like this, not just one. And you again, are only putting blame on one side. Some people were simply stating facts (about repeated threads) and some were joking but then explained themselves. I think nobody did anything wrong.
Of course you are free to express your opinion...

Quoting alameda: Yilgun has attempted to contribute to this forum in a positive way. Instead of offering encouragement, he has been made fun of, and now he is leaving.
The jokes and comments were thoughtless and rude...period!
We are communication with people from different cultures, different levels of acceptability in familiarity. I think we really need to remember this when we engage in attempts to communication.
Good manners and civility are major features of Eastern cultures.
Shame on those who contributed to our loss. I for one will miss his positive contribution to this forum.

+ 1M coz i love reading his posts, very informative posts at a young age as if he knows everything, a wild reader with great understanding and memory.

How magnanamous of you!
I wonder why I am reminded of some I´ve seen tramping through the grasses that hide endangered bird nests?

Quoting libralady:
I sort of agree, the jokes are meant to be harmless, but I think that sometimes people don´t know when they have gone to far and jokes become insulting and offensive. |
+1
And when those jokes ALWAYS target only ONE person in same way,we dont actually call them jokes!

Personally I find most of Yilgun´s posts on the level of a fifth grader. I´m sorry but I cannot see the sense of announcing that the world has 114 elements or stating that classical movies actors are gone (of course they are otherwise they wouldn´t be classical!). Yet, it is not why I do joke at Yilgun. I don´t like the style of many members here and I´m sure many members don´t like mine - it´s a free world (at least here where I type) and everyone can post whatever they want. The thing that caused joking at Yilgun was his patronising tone, calling people who disagreed with what he read in magazines "little girls" etc. Sorry, if you want to disagree - do it but don´t insult.
You may form a Yilgun´s Defence Front, accuse others of bullying him but it is not bullying. Were it bullying we´d call him names and wouldn´t answer any of his threads. I suppose you omitted the fact that the threads that are in the form of question (like "What kind of driver are you" or "Who rules the language") are answered and there´s no mockery. And it´s not my fault I have a sixth sense and I predicted his CAR thread...

Well, some of us here have fifth grader´s brain and we have young users as well.
But it just gave me an idea of creating a section +30 for our mature users.

I am going to have to start complaining that the mature users of the site are being harassed and bullied by the immature ones if you keep on repeating yourself!!!
