Yilgun - you have shown you have a sense of humour in your first paragraph. Let it show a bit more in your posts. Unfortunately you come across as rather pompous - which encourages our comments - so try to lighten up a bit as Canli says. No need to resign from the site!

Yilgun has attempted to contribute to this forum in a positive way. Instead of offering encouragement, he has been made fun of, and now he is leaving.
The jokes and comments were thoughtless and rude...period!
We are communication with people from different cultures, different levels of acceptability in familiarity. I think we really need to remember this when we engage in attempts to communication.
Good manners and civility are major features of Eastern cultures.
Shame on those who contributed to our loss. I for one will miss his positive contribution to this forum.

Alameda, I think you are exaggerating. It is BOTH sides that need to adjust a little bit when there is a ´clash´ like this, not just one. And you again, are only putting blame on one side. Some people were simply stating facts (about repeated threads) and some were joking but then explained themselves. I think nobody did anything wrong.
Of course you are free to express your opinion...

Personally I find most of Yilgun´s posts on the level of a fifth grader. I´m sorry but I cannot see the sense of announcing that the world has 114 elements or stating that classical movies actors are gone (of course they are otherwise they wouldn´t be classical!). Yet, it is not why I do joke at Yilgun. I don´t like the style of many members here and I´m sure many members don´t like mine - it´s a free world (at least here where I type) and everyone can post whatever they want. The thing that caused joking at Yilgun was his patronising tone, calling people who disagreed with what he read in magazines "little girls" etc. Sorry, if you want to disagree - do it but don´t insult.
You may form a Yilgun´s Defence Front, accuse others of bullying him but it is not bullying. Were it bullying we´d call him names and wouldn´t answer any of his threads. I suppose you omitted the fact that the threads that are in the form of question (like "What kind of driver are you" or "Who rules the language") are answered and there´s no mockery. And it´s not my fault I have a sixth sense and I predicted his CAR thread...

İ find myself agree with mltm on that
Also only in fifth grader classes they attack each others for their mental capabilities !
You find them stating something like ´im more intelligent than you ´
İn mature ones, they respect each others for who and how they are.
You wouldnt find them laughing on blind or crippled guy,or those who are less intelligent or less educated´if they are´
You know something,if you dont mind, lets stop talking about this subject, because i guess we do nothing but hurting instead of healing!
My opinion

Best car:BMW Z4 (God it rox!!!!!and it is safe) or BMW M3-M6
Audi R8 is soooooooo nice
Mercedes SL 55
Ferrari F40 by Hamman (my favorite)
Peugeut 307 from the "cheap" categories
or Toyota Yaris-Aygo-cuties
and Porsche Boxster is cool (though Z4 beats it)
Corvette C6 is also sexy =)
BUGATTI VEYRON is all time classic (though a lil Bat-Mobile)
(I love cars but I prefer Motorbikes-I would sell all those just to get a Kawasaki Ninja or a Ducatti)
P.S:sorry,Mazda SUX,I hate it,it´s like a cheap version of BMW

I don´t really wish to be driving a Rover - it is too much of a boring old man´s car and far too easy to lose in a carpark! But it was cheap to buy and is not insanely expensive to run. And it does what is needed of it which is getting me around - although recently I have been travelling to work by train far more than I have been using my car!

Hmm... guess you´re right.
About driving a car, I have got an Opel Corsa. Maybe i would have been happier with a BMW, but this one suits me well... for reasons that are more or less similar to yours. About travelling by train... yes, it is interesting, i also sometimes travel without the car, because it is more rapid (parking takes sometimes great deal of imagination and time here due to the very crowded traffic), more confortable (for the same reasons)... and I just have come to the conclusionm, that having a car is a well defined necessity, not a reason for sedentarism or for getting completely isolated, in meaning that no more trains, buses and such. Everything has it´s charm, also.

I am a boring old man bod but instead of a Rover I drive an 11 year old Fiesta. I seem to recall you had a Land Rover at one point. I have driven a Ford car most of my adult life, 2 Escorts and 3 Fiestas. My first car was a pre WW2 Austin 8 (top speed 46mph downhill with a tail wind). I now have a bus pass and can travel anywhere in Scotland free.

My first car was a Morris Minor and it was nearly as old as me at time (17)!! The dip switch for the lights was on the floor and I too could make 50 mph on a good day I also want to confess that I drove that car absolutely drunk as a skunk, beside a river and fell out of it when I got home and was promptly sick I have never driven after drinking again.

The dip switch for the lights was on the floor........
I was driving one of the Landrovers to my mother´s a long time ago and that had a dip switch on the floor. It was dark and raining heavily. About 2 miles from the motorway junction I was going to come off at a lorry passed me and I clicked the footswitch to flash him as clear, clicked it again to turn off main beam but the switch felt all squigy and the lights went off completely!!!
I accelerated as much as a 1966 Landrover could and manged to keep up with the lorry enough to be able to follow its tail lights until I got to the junction where there were street lights. Fortunately there was a well lit hotel carpark next to the junction and I pulled into there to investigate.........
What I found was that the floor had rusted through and when I pushed the footswitch I had pushed it right through the floor and severed the wires to it thus cutting off all power to the headlights! So in the rain I had to patch the wires together so I had just dipped beam and drove the rest of the way to my mothers with fingers well crossed.
Luckily it wasn´t too far and to this day I am thankful that this happened very close to my final destination instead of many miles away........
Oh the joys of motoring!!!

Well, I´m on the market for a new car. My Ford is getting old and the cost of going to the mechanic is adding up. I´m trying to hold off a bit to find a more fuel efficient one. I´ve tried to buy American to support the auto workers, but it´s getting harder and harder.
A friend of mine converted her car to electric, but it does not go very fast. I need to have a real pick up when on the freeways here. There is nothing quite so thrilling as having a 16 wheel trailor truck bearing down on you, so the need to quickly maneuver is imperative.

nay, thank you, smart is too tiny for me, im a big girl, plus, when i think of a car i think of my family, not like you only of a personal desire
