using cell phones is extremely risky to one´s health

I came accross a news about this on TV yesterday.
I personally used one (2 actually) from 1996 to 2001. Since then I simply don´t buy one, use one or carry one. People are looking at me stranglely when I say I don´t have one. But I am sure I am doing the right thing by not having one.

Interesting article. I am always conscious of the dangers and I must admit that although I carry a mobile phone I don´t use it for making many calls - perferring to use my home phone.
I think safety of cell phones is still debatable. However, wireless technology is also a "vague area" and I know some people who can "feel" if a wireless network is active in a room (scary ). I always switch off my wireless router when I am not using it.
With more and more wireless technology becoming available, I think people should be more aware of potential risks or effects. Certainly, I am aware that research into whether it increases migraines is currently underway.

Offffffffff links links links!!!! OK I will try to find a link for you - but basically they give off radiation....which is self-explanatory!

OK here is one for now

I always find it faintly ridiculous that today´s over protective parents try to get simple playground games banned as they may be "dangerous" for their children, but are quite happy for their children to be exposed to low-level radiation 24/7

Presumably you are talking about your solar car, and NOT running!
Smoking and doing 140 mph??? I can´t see a problem with it (as long as you don´t light it up while going around a corner !

Quoting SuiGeneris: That radiation issue of cell phones and microwave owens has been talked some time ago here aswell and we were talking about the same things again. |
The subject of cell phones may have been discussed before, but new research findings are appearing all the time (as is the debate about wireless technology), so I don´t think it is necessarily a bad thing to raise the subject again.
I notice people only take notice of such issues when it does not inconvenience them too much! It is no bother to wear a seatbelt to make your driving safer, but give up or stop your kids from being on the internet all day????? NEVER!

Do you ever stop bragging?
And where the hell is your sense of responsibility if you drive at 140pmh on a busy road? It is ok to risk yourself, but you have no right to risk other people.

Whatever...
Sui, frankly if you want to kill yourself in a car that is your decision. Giving daily low-levels of radiation to kids (and adults!) without their knowledge is another. Of course you are fine NOW - nobody yet knows what the long terms affects are.

One time I had to speak on the cell phone for an hour (yes about 60 minutes). I couldn´t stop it, it was something urgent and I was out so there was no regular phone to switch to. Then there was a strong headache for the following couple of hours after the call was finished. That was then I decided to stay away from them.

This is crazy. You are talking like a teenager who just passed their driving test. What about people walking on the road, or something suddenly appearing on the road ahead of you?

Good decision. Sometimes it is NICE when people can´t always call you anytime/anywhere anyway!

I don´t think it´s possible to live in a world devoid of artificial threads anymore. Even before we´re born, we´re getting our share of radiation (due to examinations like usg scans in use for tens of years), we are surrounded by devices like TVs, microwaves, routers and mobiles. The good thing about being a very special species is that we are constantly evolving and I like to believe that our DNA got used to being exposed to low levels of radiation. Probably if we transported a medieval person into contemporary world, they wouldn´t be able to breath.
We are used to the polluted air (I come from a very industrious region of Poland where snow would turn red 10 minutes after reaching the ground so I´m probably full of heavy elements), contaminated waters and radiation It´s our heritage and legacy

How come? I don´t for sure but you can take off the battery if you´re suspicious.
