Hey, my mom calls my dad her "teddy bear". Why is that rude?

"ayı" is said to people who do not know any courtesy rules, who are rude, uncivilized people.

But you can make it sound cuter by saying "ayıcığım", "my dear bear", then I´ve heard of it a few times usually when the man is a bit fat, but öhöhö I don´t think all will be happy to hear it.

I have heard the term used as teddy bear, which refers to something cute and cuddely, not fat. Then she would probably say my grizzly bear, if she was referring to his size. But I don´t know the Turkish terms.

"ayý" is said to people who do not know any courtesy rules, who are rude, uncivilized people. But you can make it sound cuter by saying "ayýcýðým", "my dear bear", then I´ve heard of it a few times usually when the man is a bit fat, but öhöhö I don´t think all will be happy to hear it.

My girlie sometimes calls me a bear - I´ve always thought she was being nice.......

But I might have to watch out because she might be insulting me!!!

Thanks for this one. My boyfriend sometimes calls me "bear" when he talks to me on the phone. I thought he was being sweet to me!

This always reminds me of a Polish guy named Jarek Sałak who couldn´t understand why the Turkish hotel staff reacted with hysterical laughter every time he wanted his key...
