What songs would you choose for your funeral to sum up your life?)

Apparently the most popular funeral songs in the UK are “Angel” by Robbie Williams and “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin.

However I think it is cruel and a bit indulgent to have sad songs at your funeral!  A few years ago a great friend of mine was dying of cancer, and when I visited him we spent time deciding on the songs he would like.   He had been a big punk/rock fan and was a bit of a rebel and activist (we took part in the protest against the Iraq War together in 2003) and he hated the idea of his funeral portraying him as some kind of saint.  Finally, after many laughs, we chose:-

Brown Eyed Girl     -        Van Morrison

Teenage Kicks       -        The Undertones

Anarchy in the UK  -        The Sex Pistols(!)

He loved the thought of the Sex Pistols belting out at the end of his funeral.  When the time finally came and his songs were played, everyone smiled at his memory and remembered him as the person he REALLY WAS (not sure what the vicar thought about the lyrics “…I am an anti-Christ” though)

omg, what a sad topic! Who would want to think of his funeral???? Why not maybe say like graduation or wedding or some happy occasion!

But i love poeple who have  a personality like your friend, it must be so hard to know that youre dying and talk about it.....

Why wouldn´t you plan a funeral for yourself......especially if you knew you were going to die!  I have planned a few for friends and family in my lifetime and thinking back, I think it would have been really nice of them to do it themselves!  How the heck am I supposed to know what kind of box they would like to be buried in for all eternity????  Or what they want to wear?  Or what kind of things they want put in the casket with them?  Its all so ancient Eygptian anyway!  I want everyone to remember that where ever I went, I always had a good time...so whatever song they think reflects that....its fine with me!  (I am thinking some kind of drinking song!){#lang_emotions_alcoholics}

I´d like Dust in the Wind by Kansas played during my cremation.

Then, I´d like them to get drunk and listen to Jesteś szalona and other kitchy Disco Polo songs

 Actually, the fact one is going to need a funeral is one of the only things we are guaranteed here. Better plan it now as when the time comes you won´t be in the state to do much about it.

I´ve seen too many of my friends pass without having made any plans. Family members who were never around come in and throw things away, or make away with the goodies.....and dispose of your remains as they wish.

Thats actually a wonderful pick, mind if I steal that?... Or maybe I should have something to freak everyone out, maybe cause a few sleepless nights with playing "Thriller"{#lang_emotions_bigsmile}

Then the after party for me would be filled with 80´s hairband rock, and Prince {#lang_emotions_shy}
