Hello! When I started using TLC site, I noticed that timestamps of forum posts are shifted 6 hours relative to my local (polish) time (it´s Greenwich + 1, yani Turkiye - 1 ). I guess that timestamps are determined according to the time zone of place where TLC server is located (or maybe I have configured something wrong in my account or in my system?).

I think that it would be useful, if user had an option (probably in control panel or user profile) to specify time zone of his/her location, so every timestamp on the site could be recalculated according to it. Or maybe it is possible to detect user´s time zone automatically ? What do you think about it, TLC members ?

TlC time is US Eastern time standard or daylight as far as I can tell.

well this is a test......this should be interesting.....

Hmmm....doesn´t seem to be working.  Is there a special process to reset this? I went to Control Panel, went to Profile, put my time zone(Pacific time) in and saved it.....what went wrong? The only thing I changed in there was the time zone.

Not for me.....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} I really don´t feel it´s that important, but hey, if everyone else is going to have the correct time zone.............I will too...

So you changed your time zone to Pacific time and you are still seeing messages in eastern time? What is the time of your message above for example, the message #7 in this thread? It is "27 Dec 2009 Sun 03:12 pm" for me on eastern time.

I visited the same thread as a guest (guest users now have Turkish time) and that message #7 shows time "27 Dec 2009 Sun 10:12 pm", which should be correct.

I am wondering what you see as the time of that message after setting your time zone to Pacific time.

Okay, so I followed the same steps to set my time zone to US Pacific time and now for that same message (#7 in this thread) the time I see is "27 Dec 2009 Sun 12:12 pm", which is correct on Pacific time.

I am curious to see if it works fine for you. So far I am the only one that says time zones are working fine, not a good sign

Alameda, what I suspect happened in your case is that you did not enter your password while updating your profile and the time zone didn´t get updated. Can you check if that is the case and try again?

Well I´m still on Eastern time....I went back to my profile and reset my password, maybe that will help.

  1. Yay!!! It worked now. I had to change my password as well to get it to stick.

It also works here (+1 Warsaw). Just like alameda, I had to change my password too (without doing it, my time zone got stuck at US Eastern Time). (sorry, checked one more time, don´t need to CHANGE password - the only necessary thing is to enter current password)

I was really (and positively) surprised to see my request implemented Çok teşekkür ederim, admin! And, if admin works so fast, then maybe we should think about more new nifty features?
