That´s okay-you´re entitled to your opinion though one man´s meat is another man´s poison as they say. I recently went with my friend to see ´Up in the air´ starring George Clooney which had,in general, rave reviews. We hated it!

For sonunda:

Thank you.

You asked :   Based on what? Is this in your opinion?”

There are a lot of Film Critics and experts  in the world.

Have you  read some of these persons?

I have read some of them and their analysis on cinema art.

So really your opinion of these films (some or all) is based on what you have read - not on actually what you have seen?  I almost always read a critic´s opinion of a film before I watch it and - like Sonunda - sometimes I agree with it, sometimes I don´t.

Do you know these movie stars?

Yes, of course I have heard of all the movie stars you list

Have you seen their films?

Yes, and many more than you have, I´m certain

They are really movie stars.

Yes - they are all movie stars but I wouldn´t say you´ve picked the best (in my opinion)

I have seen some movies from Rudolph Valentino, Greta Garbo, Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland, Susan Hayward, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford, Audrey Hepburn, Clark Gable, Sophia Loren, Vittorio De Sica, Brigitte Bardot, Deborah Kerr, Charlie Chaplin,

Robert Taylor, Sarah Miles, Stewart Granger, Katherine Hepburn, Lana Turner, Simone signoret, Catherine Deneuve, Romy Schneider, Alain Delon, Jeane Moreau, Jean Gabin, Natalie Wood, James Dean, Tippi Hedren, Laurence Harvey, Richard Burton, Grace Kelly, William Holden,Jennifer Jones,   Elisabeth Taylor (liz), etc to  Julianne Moore, Jane Seymour, Demi Moore, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jodie Foster, Cate Blanchett, Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep…

Movie is a hard art …I think the money they earn probably softens the blow.

And yes, this is my opinion.

So call your list ´The 522 Best Movies in my opinion´ (and why ´522´?? what´s wrong with Top 500?)

I realise this post was for Sonunda but I still wanted to comment  The list that ptaszek posted on your behalf seems very out of date.  At a glance I can only see a dozen or so under 50 years old! Not that some of them weren´t very good in their day and some have stood the test of time but I think film-making has moved on a bit since 1960!  And strange that the top 7 are all Valentino movies - is it a film critic´s list or is it yours?  If it´s yours are you a big Valentino fan?

Well I don´t think I said anything offensive or rude in mine but I do defend my right to think the length of the list is a bit ridiculous! (a word I didn´t actually use).  And as Trudy said earlier - there are a LOT of movie threads floating around!

Well,I don´t think I said offensive things ,either, but perhaps these are cultural differences that caused such  Yilgun´s reaction.I simply don´t want him to feel bad of unwanted criticism. He is a sensitive and intelligent young person and I only hope he will understand that nobody here criticises his personality and him as a person.

I am also proud of his last post,it means he develops and knows how to express his opinions.Waiting for more such kind ones in the future.

Some people are very diplomatic...

P.S.

I apologize for any misunderstanding because of cultural differences among us and among some countries.

Nor do I really - I was just trying to justify going off-topic - and by ´ we all´ I was referring to birdy, DD and myself anyway.

Libra - judging by what the Poles here buy (I´m talking about these over 40 with hugue moustache and constant hangover) I´d say that they´re usually after the cheapest brands lol

LiR - good point, actually, to see some of the films Yilgun listed, I´d have to do the whole list of alcohols Libra quoted muehahahha

BM - off you´re just saying so, cloggie

Lemon - ozur dilerim, distracting people from the list of films was childish, uncalled for and simply ourageous. My apologies {#emotions_dlg.ninja}

There are several films that I love but the few that I can think of right now that I also do not tire of watching are:

Shawshank redemption

The Green mile

I would jump on the drink subject too but seeing as I am not allowed to drink at the moment I think I´ll stay quiet {#emotions_dlg.sad}

 WHERE DOES MOVİE SECTOR  GO?

Or THE SECOND UNFINISHED SHORT LIFE OF WORLD MOVIE?

World Movie Industry has been vanishing because of  high techonology, internet, media and TV.

The most influential world movie stars are being forgotten.

Do you remember these movie stars and their best known films:

Rudolf Valentino, Elizabeth Taylor, William Holden, James Dean, Natalia Wood,  Gleen Ford, Omar Sharif,  Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Greta Garbo Linda Darnell, Hedy Lamarr, Lana Turner, Marlene Dietrich, Betty Davis, Errol Flyn, Charlie Champlin, Orson Welles, Vittorio De Sica, Victor Mature, Ingrid Bergman, Humprey Bogard, Omar Sharif, Catherina Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, John Wayne, Gary Coopeer, James Mason, Kirk Douglas, William Holden, Olivia de Havilland, Van Johnson, Montgomery Cliff, Kim Novak, Paul Newman, Jack Lemon,  Susan Hayward, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Laurance Harvey, Robert Taylor, Richard Burton, Michele Morgan, Maria Schell, Jack Palance, Stewart Granger, Montgomery Cliff, Deborah Kerr, Eva Maria Saint, Donna Reed, Yul Brainer, Peter Ustunov, Vincent Price, Marcello Mastroianni, Rex Harrison,  Natalia Wood, Robert Mitchum, Richard Widmark, Anthony Perkins, Tony Curtis, Rock Hudson,  Cary Grand,  Marlon Brando, Anthony Quinn, Burt Lancester, Jeff Chandler, Orson Welles, Romy Schneider, Doris Day,  Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, Ava Gardner, Simone Signoret, Jeanne Moreau, Martine Carol, Vittoria Gassman, Jean Gabin,  Silvana Mangona, Frank Sınatra, Janet Leight, Kim Novak, Peter O´Toole, Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Crawford, Starling Hayden, Maureen O´hara, Broderick Crawford, Glenn Ford, Alan Ladd, Jack Lemmon, Gregory Peck, Sophie Loren, Gina lollobrigida, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Brigitte Bardot, Claudia Cardinale, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Faye Dunaway, Rossana Brazzi, Van Heflin, Catherina Deneuve, Sidney Portier, Spencer Tracy, Faye Dunaway, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Cary Grand,  Robert Redford, Charles Bronson,Alain Delon, Robert Wagner, Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Micheal Douglas, Warren Betty, Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster, Sylvester Stallona, Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, Harrison Ford, etc. They were the last great movie stars of our time.

There is no good movie star and scenario in our time.

And about Turkish Movie Industry:

There are no influetial movie stars like Cahide Sonku, Yıldırım Gökçer, Ayten Gökçer, Turhan Seyfioğlu, Müşfik Kenter, Yıldız Kenter, Ayhan Işık, Muhterem Nur, Belgin Doruk, Muzaffer Tema, Orhan Günşıray, Sadri Alışık, Türkan Şoray, Eşref Kolçak, Fatma Girik, Hülya Koçyiğit, Fikret Hakan, Filiz Akın, Zeki Alasya, Metin Akpınar, Yılmaz Güney,  Cüneyt Arkın, Göksel Arsoy, Ediz Hun,  Kadir İnanır, Tarık Akan, Rutkay Aziz, Kartal Tibet, İzzet Günay, Ekrem Bora, Münir Özkul, Zeki Alasya, Metin Akpınar, Kemal Sunal, Şener Şen, etc in Turkish Movie now.The most influential Turkish movie stars are being forgotten.
