an active fun FRIENDLY expat group. My husband and I live in Tarabya. Although we have been married eight years I do not speak Turkish, his fault of course I would like to take Turkish lessons with a few other people and to generally meet people in my same situation. If anyone has any suggestions please respond.
Teşekkür ederim

Why put all the blame on him? Isn´t there some fault of yours in it? Live in Turkey for 8 years and don´t speak Turkish at all?

I had a feeling that you were living in Turkey for 8 years. You only make it clear now.
I met some ladies with Turkish husband living in Turkey for only 2 years and speaking good Turkish.
I wish you success in your future efforts.

Turkish people also looove comment on how much weight you put on. Consider this as daily talk. Maybe "westerners" (as we are called here) chat about the weather, but here weight loss and gain is the number one daily talk subject, so be prepared. At least it´s my experience!
Ne?

Hm, I never had anybody talk about weight gain or loss to me. Perhaps because I always look the same. I´m not too skinny, so Turkish moms don´t worry about me. I´m not too fat, so I can´t complain about clothes not looking nice on me either

Yes, that´s right. In the first 5 minute of any family event I attended the weight chat exploded. I think the base of these is pure jealousy so I am feeling very flattered when they mention that I have put on some.
Well honey, (I would say) I am 178cm so I have pretty much place to put that 2 kilos. How about you? Just kidding. I always say: Thank you!
Anybody with similar experiences?
How interesting!
I can say this about Poland. Poles are fit and skinny. So when you are a bit fat everyhone will stare at you. this will lead you to loosing. Am I talking right? Is it something similiar to yours?
my 4years transformation is from 64 to 84. nobody stares at me, I can get as big as an elephant. freedom rules!
