Since when are you the judge of who has or has not turned away form God? Are you God him/herself? Otherwise I would not see how you are able to judge anybody, ESPECIALLY in a threat about the horrible loss of other human beings. Get off your high horse and take a chill pill.

About the news, I have not been able to follow it that well, since it wasn´t on the Dutch news. But do I understand from the remarks here, that the guy who shot those people had a gun-license?

I am of course no judge but I have eyes and ears. You and the whole world has turned away from God.

This thread was started by Janissary not to share his condolences but to mock you "good" and civilized westerners.

I dont ride the high horse. Its you Barba who is a good doer and think so high of yourself.

Everybody know why Janis started this thread, still, it doesn´t make the massacre less horrible. Bad things happen everywhere and we may choose to become indifferent to them, pretend they never happened or feel sorry for the victims. I choose the latter.

lemon - it is now more or less visible and understandable to me what you have tried to do or to what you have tried to draw our attentions. It seems you are trying to make distinction beetween what you believe (that´s, in Jesus and God) or you have (that´s ´faith´ for God) and what the others believe (that´s, in religion) or they have. I understand, you claim you have no religion (but faith). Fine and full stop! But in terms of my purpose here, let me dwell on this point a bit, then I´ll come to my point.

I believe in God and only Him I respect and worship

Assuming that we all agree on what worship mean, let me tell that in whatever or wherever worship involves, there religion becomes in question. From the most primitive religious rituels and ceremonies to the most modern and recent practices in the holy religions, we can basically see worship, even if the forms of worship in each may greatly vary. If you, too, worship (no matter what, but now that you yourself told it, let me repeat) God, then you have also in a way a religion, whether religion here is in the usual sense or you are the creater, founder and the only follower of your own religion, changes nothing. Now that you, too, have religion, let us remember these (in no particular order):

people put their hopes / trusts in civilizations, better laws, science, humanism or religions

All of you turned away from God that is why you suffer and will continue to suffer. ....
People believe that they are good, thus becoming their own gods. You and the whole world has turned away from God.

I believe in God and only Him I respect and worship. Everything and everyone that is not from God is evil.

Keeping in mind barba´s right question ´What does this have to do with God?´ and the fact that you told these in, or in relation to, this killing thread, reminds me of a bearded, wise man´s words:

(Religion is) the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions.

I understand very well, your sigh, heart and soul against this recent killing event, but even so, as you well said:

What will that help? What will that change?

Err not Janissary but Janissaridis and I am sure he is not mocking us - we post enough crap about stuff that goes on in Turkey so why not he post likewise about the UK ?

This man with he legally licensed guns, an unassuming man to most people was tipped over the edge by a family fued over a will (reported on the BBC) which caused his breakdown and to shoot his twin and then the family solicitor before going on the rampage, killing his collegue and taking shots at other, who had also been mocking him lately.  And then going on to kill other innocent people going about their daily business.  Who knows what goes on in someones head to make them do such a dreadful thing.

The whole incident is incredibly sad for all those that have been affected and lost loved ones.

Not sure what God has got to do with all this, if there is such a thing.... I have not seen any evidence to convince me yet and things like this make it even more unlikley I am afraid Lemon.

Can´t you just say something like  "what a tragedy, I feel sorry for the people who have to miss their friends and family because of this"?

The best way to come back to all this bla bla is: Whatever! I have no religion. I was brought up with a parents who left me free to choose my own religion, so I chose none. I was brought up to respect people and our difference, and to show sorrow for human losses.

I feel VERY sorry for the people who are a victim of this event in any way.

I REALLLLLY hope that nobody on this forum wants to use this event to make Turkey look better! Because that would make you a word that I´m not allowed to use here. The death of people is no way to advertise your own country. If you want to do that, you might as well just post pictures of dying children in Africa, since that´s also worse then whatever might be happening in Turkey.
