Oh! How can I thank you for the excitement you have brought to this otherwise boring thread?

PS. It should be a piece of cake who understands Kazakça.

All you have to do is agree with me on every topic and fight fearlessly anyone who dares to disagree with HM Lemon.

Back to the topic. Why do they have this webcast thing going on? Can´t people just write letters, look at the website, and send emails like before?

Yeah, you can send emails and you would get your answers but this is interactive. You will be replied during the webcast.

 No, but I don´t see the point of making an event out of answering questions, something the embassy has to do daily anyway.

You silly Dutch! Nothing you understand again. Which embassy in the whole world opens an interactive webcast where you can get your answers straight away without paying a fortune on the phone conversation?  {#emotions_dlg.head_bang}

 Everything was going so well until Borat!  And yes, America is money....I have a bathtub full of it and I jump in everyday and take a bath in it.  I am sure Cat has 2 bathtubs full of money because she is far more evil than me!

Uh... I usually email my Dutch embassy in Turkey and get an answer the same day or the next day. And when I call it´s also not that expencive since the phone calls are short. But I guess I would have to compare this case to the American embassy in Holland. If I would call them it would be free for me. It´s a normal number, and I have one of those phone-connections that you pay per month, not per phonecall So perhaps I don´t get it because I´m spoiled

My two cents…

I think a webinar is a very productive way to answer the most questions, from obviously interested parties, as efficiently as possible – it’s the American way.

And about America being the ‘root of evil”…it very well may be – but I have yet to hear of ANY country that has immigrants risking their very lives by jumping borders or walls, swimming or making makeshift rafts to cross the vast oceans, hiding in the freezing cargo pit of airplanes…just for the simple opportunity to enter the country…Where an immigrant can raise a family and even have a child who grows to be the 44th President…

Yup….evil can be verrrrry attractive!  (but some of us already know that)

- best regards from the States....

I guess you´ve missed all the (sometimes dead) people that wash up on Spanish and Italian shores.... Immigration is often not a pull-factor thing (where the country in question is so great that you HAVE to go there) but more a push-factor thing (where the country you´re in gives no opportunity for a good life). Why would a Cuban take a raft to Finland when the U.S. is so much closer?

In any case, the U.S. is not the root of all evil. Apples are.

Mama, I beg to differ.

Our Lady Liberty boasts: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door." – AKA the symbol of hope and freedom for immigrants….

I think that the "pull" for people looking for US Visa´s is all about the "American Dream" as depicted in stories and movies that span the globe.  For example…Dare I mention the dreaded “Sex in the City” shows an image of living in New York City as an exciting (and oddly clean) place full of beautiful, hot women who dine out daily, live on 5th avenue, don’t really work at stressful jobs and have a fabulous sex life to boot.  Many people erroneously think that they can just arrive here, instantly get a great paying job and support their families in their homeland with US dollars.  Good luck with that!  Not to say it doesn’t happen, but you reap what you sow.  As you do everywhere in the world.

On the other hand…if I were to leave the county – I’d swim to France (the goofs who wrote those lines on the statue) … I’d spend all my days sitting in a café in Paris where EVERYONE is beautiful, thin and dress impeccably.  Since no one works, I’d spend every day watching the artists sketch the Eiffel Tower with the sweet music of live violins that fills the air.  That IS what Paris is like, isn’t it??

 Now that depends on the size of the bath tub (I KNOW you Bed Amerikens have the biggest tubs in the world!! {#emotions_dlg.scared} on account of the supersize McDonalds {#emotions_dlg.unsure}) and of course the denomination of the bills {#emotions_dlg.think}

So unfair!  We really need those big bathtubs!  According to certain people (who again will remain nameless) bed Amerikans are rich evil people who rejoice in other peoples misfortune, this in turn makes us very very rich and we need somewhere to keep the money! Oh and we are also the fattest people on the planet, so we need them for our giant arses!!  anladim? {#emotions_dlg.lol_fast}

Birdy - and what´s wrong with that? Is it not ok to check whether their parents were there legally? Or were the children kept in bad conditions?

 the method of control applied IMHO. Can you imagine what stress all had to undergo, isn´t it traumatic experience especially for kids?
