Quoting vonnyz:

As long as it is safe, clean then I think that should be fine. Yes exactly! Who would want to stay in the room all day? All I need is a shelter where I can sleep and rest well before the next day starts again. Yes, I too think Sultanahmet is a nice place to stay in. But after you mentioned that its quite "empty" at night. Maybe I should look for other area.

The thing is (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been looking into it) that there are no hostels except there.. Other areas like Beyoğlu, Taksim, Kadıköy (Asian side) certainly have cheap hotels, but no hostels as far as I know. Of course nothing is holding you from going to other places and take a tram or a taxi back!

Quoting vonnyz:

What do you suggest, if its other area. I agree with you that staying in hostels you get to meet more people which can be fun

I love Büyük Londra Oteli, which is in the Beyoğlu area. It is in the same street as Pera Palas, but way cheaper!!
It's right behind the corner of Istiklal Caddesi and Taksim Square, it's an old hotel, with a past glory but really relaxed and a bit of a bohemian atmosphere, not posh at all.
Have you seen the movie "Gegen die Wand" by the way (TR: "Duvara karşı" - ENG: "Head-On")? Part of that movie was filmed there

I dont recommend you going to Paris hostel,Sultanahmet. The place is downright miserable and low class.Mind that its some two or three streets after Cordial House, which has nothing to do with it.So dont dare go in paris hostel by mistake

Cordial house is just fine if you stay there for a few days, ór if you're used to living in student-circumstances . But the staff is sooo friendly, and everyone goes home with a smile!

And if you take a taxi from taksim back to the hostel, you pay about 12 YTL (6 euros) during the night (If I remember correctly). So that's not such a bad price either
