You can share more personal information here and get to know each other better. A few more friends won't hurt anyway.

Merhabalar! I am trying to contact any Italians who live in Turkey or even Turkish people with an interest in Italian. I am actually from Ireland but after living for 6 years in Italy, I want to keep speaking Italian (maybe even teach some Italian) now that I am living in Istanbul. spero di sentire qualche risposta

Ciao and hello

I am an odd mix of Italian and Welsh who lived in Turkey, Italy, the UK and now the US. Where next I do not know. I was offered a position in Ankara recently but declined because the contract was too long.

Being Italian I found a wonderful amount of warmth from the many incredible people I encountered in my travels through Turkey. I worked with one young man from Istanbul helping him learn English and Italian online for about a year. I am still learning my Turkish and have added Arabic to the mix too. It goes slowly but it goes

It is my goal to return to Turkey one day and purchase a home. Whether I will live and work there permanently still remains to be seen.

I happened upon this site by sheer accident. I was looking for the lyrics to a song by Gulben Ergen (hoping to find them in English) and somehow ended up at this site

Looking forward to getting to know the members. Take care and be well.

M~

Hi Everyone,
My name is Lynda - I live in London. I am a probation officer (like a parole officer). I have 4 children of my own plus an adopted daughter. In November i hope to have another 'adopted child' coming from Turkey to live with us for 1 year while he goes to college here. None of these 'children' are children. The eldest son is 32 and the youngest (daughter) is 21, everyone else including the adopted Turkish 'son' is in between these ages.

I am married to a Plumber.

I hope to retire early to Turkey in 2 or 3 years and run a hotel.

I am learning Turkish as an important part of realising my dream of living (and dying) in Turkey. I also need to be able to speak to my adopted 'sons' mother who cannot speak any English at all.

I have 1 dog and 3 cats and live in a small house in Central/East London (pretty near to where some of the bombs went off by the way)

I have lots of really very good friends on this site and I love learning here. Not just Turkish, but about other people and their lives, cultures and beliefs, if you take the time and interest you can enrich your life in many ways by speaking to the people you find here. I feel very much like a 'class mate' here and I am always interested in my friends and their lives.

I have just returned from 3 weeks in Turkey and have lots of stuff to share with you all. i'll do some essays and forums posts when i finish unpacking, doing the laundry and getting over the journey. I'll put some pictures up on my personal bit also.

Hello to everyone - I'm happy to be back (well not too much actually, its grey, cold, raining and miserable in London right now and I won't even mention the state of terror that has gripped London since I've been away. My daughter works on the London Underground and I am afraid every day for her.

I'm sure lots of you have lived or do still live in places where bad things happen all the time and i'm sorry for this. I suppose we will get used to it in time. Meanwhile life has to go on.....

Take care everybody - I hope all is well in everyone's lives.

Hello, Lyndie
Welcome back!
I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only mother in this site!
I like your essay very much and I'm looking forward to read some more.
I would also be glad to join Bliss staying in your hotel in Turkey one day.
I completely understand your feelings - I live in place where bad things were happening, when I was afraid for lives of my children as you are now.
I wish if bad things would never happen to anyone.
Waiting impatiently for your essays, impressions and photos,
HoşÃ§akal,
Slavica

Hello to everyone
I am 25 years old female from Lithuania. I speak russian and lithuania fluent, but my english isn't so good, so you can find some funny mistakes in my sentences. I study physics and some math, i guesse many think that this field isn't for girls, but i can say some girls are much better in math and physics than boys, but anyway genius we give for men.
Not married, no children, hope this situation will change.

Merhaba My Classy Classmates!

# 1 I have to say Welcome back our preciousBliss!!!
I cannot express how much you were missed. I hope all is wonderful and
Happy in your life. I am sorry you did not see my message but I am glad that in your heart you knew what I wrote from my heart. I am always here for you don't forget that! Wow what a response for listing my phone#. I have no worries of security especially under the circumstances and the fact that I wanted you to be able to reach me as you went through your testing and all. Please let me know how you are. I finally had a chance to read my messages and want to express my thanks for your lovely words too. What a blessing you are and all our wonderful classmates too. I have been having PC trouble and regret not being able to reply promptly to yours Bliss and others too. My lovely friend I will send you a email with my 'Personal Info' which is not private in this day and age and I have no fears from my actions. You see my # is unlisted as well as my address but I did a search and all my 'So called' private info came up in less than a minute. NO BIGGY to me really, but it concerned other classmates and I want to reassure them not to worry as I know the way the world is especially in the year 2005.....................anyone is accessible and almost anything can be found by whomever chooses I am sorry to say.My life has been so challenging and I have grown from most of my experiences whether they be GOOD or BAD. Sometimes the people you should fear are those you may know as I have found in my past life experiences and or challenges. I am witting a book as each chapter of my life unfolds. Sometimes I am shocked at how quickly they can twist and turn. I am oh so truly blessed and probably wouldn't change anything even if it were possible. so in saying that much I want to be sure and say thanks to other classmates who had sent me emails some of concern others just so thought full as the concerned ones were thoughtful to: Mina,Lyndie ,freshman ,konat7,memak ,cruisins ,bahadir777,seker cocuk,sht99,ELA ,and of course Admin!
Thank you all!!!!
What really concerns me is there being concerned to start with, but I understand how they feel and I am glad they were able to express them to me. I am not worried though but feel so much love here and have so much love and gratitude for everyone. What a blessing to have found this site, by accident to. I think a lot of us did by chance. I feel everything happens for a reason as well and I am ever so grate full for all of you and wish the best life has to offer to you all. I want to also say thanks to everyone who sent me a private message. I enjoyed each and every word and am happy to be a part of this site and class. I am so proud of all of you and blessed by all of you. The forums here are so enlightening in more ways than one. I learn more about all of you at the same time I learn more about me too, what a unity we have here. Truly the best site ever, as I think you all are out of site! A slang term for wonderful in your own unique ways. A world of people as are classmates are world wide educators of life and enlighten my soul and heart to a level of peace, trust, admiration, and so much more. It is my hope someday the world will come together as we do here and just be at peace within and all of our fellow people of the world.......................every culture, nation, country, men, woman, children, and be at peace with all mankind. (You know what I mean) Take care and thanks for just being! You have all helped me in one way or another at being a better human being.
Byessssssssssssssss!

Love and Peace,
Tsarevna Stacia

I am so happy to be a part of such a wonderful place/website! Thanks to all of you!!!!

Hi there,
I m Sophie from Greece, 34, divorced for the last 3 years, raising a 6 year old daughter.
Life hasn't been easy for me so far and this has made me tough. I love to be free, independant and ask no favors from anybody. But u know, there comes a moment, when i feel weak...and insecure...and lonely... And then i need somebody to hold my hand, smile to me and tell me that everything is gonna be alright. I look around. Nobody there... What the hell, i ll survive. Don't i always?

Ps: thank u all for being there.

Merhaba to all! My name is Vanessa and I'm a 17-year-old high school student living in Australia (but my mother is Filipina). A few months ago, if you asked me what I knew of Turkey, I would have only been able to reply, "Turkish delight and the Gallipoli war". But since I've been chatting to a lot of Turks on MSN it has been a newfound obsession of mine (there's just 'something' about Turkey...) to find out as much as I can about Turkish culture, and even religion. (I was going to learn the language too, but I thought I should just focus on my French, for now at least.) Hi people,

My name is Meltem, 23 yo. I live in İstanbul. I'm half turkish and half french (my french is in the beginner level ) I like learning languages tough I can't make more than one at the same time. I started english many years ago at school, but this year realized that I want to speak english very fluently, so now I started an english course for the weekends, I read english books, go in the forums and try to deal with english as much as possible.

My future dreams and plans change very often. Now, I think I decided to go to France next year for learning french and doing a master on chemistry.(It's not sure yet).

I like helping people, it's good to make their translations (especially I like the romantic or personal ones ehehe).

Kisses

Hi Meltem

I just wanted to say hello. You've been very helpful since you joined this site, and your English is excellent. If you ever need any help with your French, let me know! You've obviously got a talent for languages, so I'm sure you will be able to pick up French in no time at all.

Take care

Natalie x

Thanks Natalie.
You're very kind. You say that my english is excellent, I take it as a compliment. I have far too go. While writing, it's much easier (I have always time to think and can look in a dictionary), but I like expressing my feelings and my ideas in daily life, so I have to learn speaking english nearly like a native. And ofcourse I want to understand most of the things when I watch BBC or an american movie (why is it still so difficult to understand them ).
But really learning a language is a very interesting thing, it's like a key to an enormous world. You always discover and discover.

I totally agree with you! Languages are the key to accessing the world. You should definitely try to go to France, I think it will be a wonderful experience for you. Until then, enjoy the BBC!

Hi! I'm Esther, 18 years young from Holland! And i really love this site. Just like meltem, i like the personal messages too.. i cant help anyone translating them.. but i just like to see that people dare to be open here (ok i know its internet, but still!!).

I also have a big passion for languages. I speak English, French and German. A LITTLE bit Spanish and understand a little Italian.. My main goal now is Turkish and then i want to start New Greek (i do Ancient Greek and latin at school) and after that Russian.. i think i will catch up Spanish and Italian in between because they are not difficult, especially if you know Latin and French

I hope to become language teacher, literature criticus or translator one day, in Türkiye!

Thanks for all the helpful people here It really has given me some strength for some reason..! I hope i can be of help one day too !!
