isn't each new day as a b/f,so why we don't clebrate everyday like a birthday?

When you reach the age of experience like me, birthdays are not such a big deal! In fact mine are now going backwards 
I do think tho' that it gets a bit ridculous - we always collect at work for 18th, 21st and 40th. Now it is these plus 30, 50, 60. Then anyone whose birthday it is they bring in cakes!

yes there comes a time when you want to forget birthdays and in England they have cards for everything. -|

Also, there are special birthdays in Holland. 16 is a special one, as it allows you to go out, to drink alcohol, to get your scooter-license.. 18 is the official date for not being a child anymore etc.. and then we have 21, which is the date for mature independence (something like that).
In Türkiye, do they have special ages like that too? Is 21 one of them?
What do they do on birthdays? From my Turkish neighbours I remember that the girls didn't really get presents but that they got a new dress and that there was a huge barbecue in the garden with all their friends and family. |
we have special ages too. first we celebrate circumcision of a boy. it s the first step for being man. circumcision is a big organisation like a wedding. in my opininon there is not a mature independence age in turkey coz we have a very strong family relations. a child has to listen what their parents want. in turkish culture everytime elders come first.
the other importend age is military service age. it s celebrated too.

Oh, yes! When we were in Antalya we were seeing fireworks very often, and our hosts explained us that it was a part of circumcision celebration.
