Quoting lady in red:

Quoting gencturk:

geniuda : correct
sonunda : word by word correct
kali20 : absolutly not correct

But geniuda's translation:

Quoting geniuda:

my try,
Happy Birthday my friend...I missed you!

is different to Sonunda's:

Quoting sonunda:

'it's good(fortunate) that you were born,my friend. I miss you.'?

There is no mention of 'day' in the Turkish so surely sonunda's must be the right one? They are both 'birthday messages' but I think I would rather receive the second one!

"Happy birtday" word by word translation to turkish is "Mutlu doğum-günleri" that is not used in turkish. instead used "iyiki doğdun" .
"iyiki doğdun" word by word translation to english is "it's good(fortunate) that you were born" .
of course you can choose second one its correct too.
i hope i am clear

isnt happy birthday-- same as happy the day you were born? I mean if we translate it word by word..: lol lol

I admit I was being a bit 'picky' but Happy Birthday is usually 'Doğun ğünün kutlu olsun' isn't it?

OK - I admit it - I'm bored and trying to increase my post count!!! lol lol

Edit: Just saw gencturk's post - but I never heard that said before - always the 'doğun günün' one
