There are also many winter resorts for skiing and enjoying all sorts of winter activities. A wide array of historical sites ranging from earliest times of human civilization to remarkable twentieth century artifacts and sites serve visitors all year round.

Big cities like Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir and Ankara attract a large number of foreign visitors for business, education, history, culture and nature. The largest amount of visitors hovewer prefer smaller towns focusing on summer activities. Among these are Alanya, Kemer, Bodrum, Fethiye, Kusadasi, Marmaris, Side, Ayvalik, Altinkum, Kas and Kekova.

Turkey also offers unique natural wonders you can see nowhere else in the world, such as the cotton white travertens of Pamukkale and the exotic volcanic formations of Cappadocia. These sites also attract a remarkable number of foreign visitors every year.
