This was a very popular Finnish group in the 1990´s. Their music was influenced by earlier left-wing political agitation even though the motifs for the lyrics were mostly found from individual life. I like some of their songs. Sinä lähdit pois is basically a sad song but in it setbacks of life are handled with Finnish calmness. I could watch the video a hundred times (maybe it´s the airplanes). I thought I could add it here as a souvenir.

Ultra Bra:

Sinä lähdit pois You went away

Aamuyöllä kumpikaan meistä ei jaksa enää juhlia. In the small hours neither of has enough strength to celebrate.

Väsyneet katseet, käheät äänet, taustalla aurinko, joka ei lämmitä. Tired glances, raspy voices, in the background the sun that doesn’t warm.

Taustalla aurinko joka ei lämmitä. In the background the sun that doesn’t warm.

Sinä lähdit pois, You went away,

minä katselin parvekkeelta loittonevaa selkääsi. I was in the balcony watching your back which moved further away.

Si Tu No Vuelves

for anyone who may be curious, this is a Ranchera song.

The singer is Alejandro Fernandes.

The horse is probably from the family ranchera.

BTW the belt he is wearing in the start of the video is a traditional craft of embroidery done with cactus fiber. It´s called Piteado work.

Neredesin sen

sung by Selda Bagcan

Şu garip halimden bilen işveren azlı
Gönlüm hep seni arıyor neredesin sen
Tatlı dillim, güler yüzlüm, ey ceylan gözlüm
Gönlüm hep seni arıyor neredesin sen

Ben aglarsam aglayıp, gülersem gülen
Bütün dertlerım anlayıp, halımı bılen
Sankı kalbımı bılerek, yüzüme gülen
Gönlüm hep senı arıyor neredesın sen

Sinemde gizli yaramı kimse bilmiyor
Hiç bir tabib şu yarama melhem olmuyor
Boynu bükük bir garibimyüzüm gülmüyor
Gönlüm hep seni arıyor neredesin sen

WHERE ARE YOU?

My coy (lover), my flirty who understands that miserable condition of mine
My heart is looking for you all the time, where are you?
My soft-spoken, my good-humored, oh my gazella-eyed
My heart is looking for you all the time, where are you?

The one who cries when I cry and who smiles when I smile
Who understands all my troubles, who knows in what a condition I am
Who smiles at me as if (s)he can see my heart
My heart is looking for you all the time, where are you?

I have a hidden wound in my breast, no one knows
No doctor can find a cure for that wound of mine
I’m a poor, I’m unhappy, nothing can make me happy
My heart is looking for you all the time, where are you?
