I think there are good news for those who want to buy property in Turkey,
this is what I saw today on www.letsgototurkey.com

"FINAL NEWS
FOREIGNERS ARE ALLOWED TO PURCHASE PROPERTY IN TURKEY
The law is published in Official Newspaper. Starting from 16th of January 2006, foreigners who purchased properties earlier, will begin receiving title deeds, and new applications will be accepted by the Title Deed Office.

Breaking News:
--06/01/06 - The last step needed for the completion of the law has been fulfilled, the President Ahmet Necdet Sezer has approved the law at 17:30 pm enabling foreigners to purchase property in beautiful Turkey, congratulations."

yah.. wev got skype.. but its not the same as using an actual phone is it?[/QUOTE:

yes, in my opinion it is. I use it to call my family in Poland. there is an option 'conference call' which makes me able to have a chat with both brothers at the same time even though they live in different cities. sometimes there may be problem with connection quality but it depends on your internet connection speed I guess.

I agree with what kristy said about religion. if you treat it seriously you can't convert only to fulfil family's condition. but I'm not sure if example of kristy's marriage with muslim man is right in this situation. as far as I know Muslim can marry Christian or Jewish girl and she doesn't have to convert to Islam. but it's not the same for Muslim girls - they can marry only Muslim, at least it is like that in very traditonal families. I have Turkish fiance, we talked about religion many times and he never wanted me to change my religion.
it seems that your girlfriend's family is quite traditional so you really should think it over if you are ready to become member of this family. I think that first of all you should give yourself a lot of time to get to know her family well and first of all learn everything about Islam. wish you good luck.
