When SA is attached straight to the verb root the verb form denotes an unreal, envisaged action. When SA is comes after a tense marking (like the aorist in your example) the action is thought of as real.

I have usually connected them like this:

Onu bırakırsam pişman olurum. ´If I (really) leave him I will regret.´

Onu bıraksam/bıraksaydım pişman olurdum. ´If I left him (just a thought) I would regret.´

And as Faruk said you can as well attach SA to another tense marking, for example the past tense (and the action is thought of as real):

Seni bıraktıysa sen de bırak onu unutmaya çalış! ´If he has left you (for real), leave him you too, try to forget him!´

Because in embedded clauses you add the genitive ending to the subject.

Bu konuda hiç bir ittifakımızın olmadığını duyuruyoruz.

Ne duyuruyoruz? ‘Hiç bir ittifakımız yok.’

Think of var/yok as adjectives meaning ‘present/absent’ which they actually are.

Ne söylerim? ‘Sen sevgilimsin.’ OR ‘O sevgilim.’ (This is ambiguous as you know.)

If you want to see the genitive ending here it must be added to the grammatical subject (which has been dropped as it often happens).
