A little more clarification:

The call to prayer, Adhan in arabic and ezan in Turkish (note that vowels in Arabic often change in turkish when transliteration because the vowel system is different, and the arabic D sounds a little like a Z, hence EZan), is ofcourse originally in Arabic.

Actually Adhan is informal arabic
İt is Azan in Arabic, thats why it is Ezan in Turkish
أذان
We usually change the letter ذ which is like z at the words to D when we talk informal 'Egyptian delicate'
So we say Adaan not Azan

İn arabic we have 2 D's one soft like English D,and one is neither in English nor in Turkish language called daad ض with hard voice
Thats why sometimes they call Arabic language, the Language of the Dad
Thats why Usually in Turkish they change the arabic hard D to Z...
İ dont know the relation ,it would be closer to change it to D
Like Razı it is Radi originally

Neysa,Arabic D is different than Z,there is also Arabic Z
Arabic D,is D soft one 'Da^l' and hard one 'Dad'

Actually, this entire adhan(ezan) thing causes 'noise pollution'.
I can understantand the necessity of it in old times when the clock or watch were not invented.
But in today's world, adhan(ezan) is unnecessary.

'noise pollution'?!
What would you think about noise pollution when at least 3 person's alarms call for 5 times at a day to remind them of praying time ?! lol

İts lovely and peaceful
And also its lovely to see people going to mosque after ezan praying after one İmam specially at Cuma and Bayram 'mainly thats when you can see people go to mosques'

what seems just for Turks may be ridiculous for me, a Eastern/Central European and might be unacceptable and appalling to an American. It's not a game titled 'make fun of Turks/Muslims' here. It is our observances and our reaction. We've seen that the folks here have a different sense of humour. Some get infuriated by Muslim jokes while even our Christian members are ok with Christianity jokes. It's all about distance. In another thread Tamidakika used the word 'cage' and was instantly accused of considering women animals, although I'm sure that's not he meant, the way I understood it, he was referring to gender segregation in mosques. Still, for a Muslim, his words were interpreted differently.

İ agree with many of that DD

Thats why where you an Eastern/Central European saw nothing wrong with using the word Cage while describing the place where women pray 'which frankly i have found it strange that coming from feminist, and also it was ok with all feminists in THAT matter! but thats another story' i as Eastern Muslim have found it OUTRAGEOUS coming from Eastern in a country where he is serounded by Muslims!

İn my country,we have Christians living with us and you can ask them how a Muslim women should pray, and they will fulfill you with the needed details as asking any Muslim,so actually you dont have to be Muslim to know !

You saw it as gender segregation in mosques, but i see it as very much secular man and how he is thinking of and respecting religious women being in the society

İt has nothing to do with gender segregation !

Because he knows better, even if he is not Muslim,he is living between them, and he knows the rules quite well!

For example, when he or anyone wanted to join the UNİ,he took a test to determine in which collage would he be accepted
So if he wanted to join medical school for example, and he didnt pass the test, will he be STİLL accepted ?
Nope
And never the less if he insisted and went to it and even attened all the clasess would he become a Doctor?
Of course NOT
Because he didnt pass the test

You want to go to UNİ,you must pass tests, you want to be a Doctor, you must be accepted !

That is the rule...take it or leave it

Same in İslam 'or any religion for what it matters !'
The rules here,if you want to pray, you must wash first 'abdest' and women wear scarves when praying

You want to pray, those are the rules, you dont do any of them and STİLL you prayed...fine...but praying is NOT acceptable !

You MUST have abdest before praying, and women MUST wear headscarves while praying or your prayer is NOT acceptable, simple

You pray in straight lines, not leaving spaces between each others, women pray in lines behinde men's lines STİLL has nothing to do with gender segregation, its even logical when we pray,we kneel,we sit,we stand,we bend...ect,so nope, thanks,i dont want men praying in lines behide me !

So dont tell me a man who is living in a Muslim society doesnt know all of that...!

Nope,im sorry,but i wont buy it !

Ps:needless to say 'you' meant for Muslims.

Another thing that happens here (and maybe this is a general thing - I don't know) after the Call to Prayer is the announcement of any deaths that have occurred locally - this can go on for quite a long time.

İ dont know if this what you are talking about or not.
We 'Muslims' pray over our died people in mosques, and the larger the number of the prayers, the better
So people who pray at mosques tend to wait and pray if they knew there is someone will pray over him
İt doesnt take much time either after the regular pray

I'm sorry but I find it ridiculous that men and women cant pray in the same room. It is as if the presence of a woman will disturb the cleanliness and the sacredness of a man's prayer. Glad to hear that Egypt is a bit ahead and lets them pray in the same room, hopefully the same will be extended to namaz-times as well.

İts not in Egypt, its how Muslims pray.
Normally mosques are divided to two places,Men's place and women's place
We have our libraries,we have our bathroom 'water supplies' for abdest,we have everything there as men's have, and we all pray after same İmam
Just women part is smaller than men's part, because men's numbers who attend mosques are bigger than women's numbers
İf there is no such place at the mosque for women to pray,so women can pray at same place with men behinde their lines.

The point has nothing to do with cleanliness and the sacredness, but yes its about disturbance for both sides.

Look who is talking about respect. When did I say don`t believe in God? Who are you to judge me over my faith in God?

Actually,you did !
That is what i understood from you over old PM as i believe
Maybe i got it wrong then,STİLL
İf you believe in God or not its your own business not mine,as i said in my post if you read it again
Where have i judged you about your faith then, huh ?!

Quoting tamikidakika:

You know I didn`t mean to call the women praying behind men animals, I didn`t even think you could make such an interpretation, and your interpretation doesn`t have to represent what I actually intended to say. So what should I be more respectful for? Im already respectful.

İ dont know anything,as you just stated,i dont know you !
And even if you didnt mean it,you could have simply said so
İ wasnt the one who used the word CAGE in my post, and refused even to say i didnt mean it that way !

Quoting tamikidakika:

So can you stop accusing me of silly things to avoid arguing with me because you can`t refute any of my arguments?

If you don`t have anything to put forth about what I said about the headscarf decision, this will be my last post in this topic. My argument is there. you can try to refute it or else if you can`t you can go on making cacophony.

İ dont make excuses to avoide an argument or debat, and everyone here knows that, but also i dont debat when i feel lack of respect, and everyone here knows that too !
So actually, you cant accuse me of that !

Using the word Cage while talking about women praying for their God,is not what we can call it respect for those women, can we ?!
İf you dont mean it that way,you could have simply said so,is it that hard ?!

Their eagerness to insult everyone and pose threads is the reason. And, frankly speaking, I find it surprising that you, always being fair and polite, don't mind that.

Let's be fair DD,insults were mutual between them and other members
Sometimes were not adressed to them in plain English, sometimes it were
But it was there.

As you noticed yourself - USA don't want war with Turkey. But, according to BSB, USA wanted to take it over, as did UK , Greece and I don't remember what else. They got paranoid, looked for terrorist plots and supporters everywhere and that lost them..

İ dont believe USA wants to take over Türkiye, because simply it cant!
But as i said in my post,it caused problems accourding to its interests
So actually they were not totally wrong !

Quoting Daydreamer:

Alameda - girl, read the archives. The Middle East Plan has been already discussed, accounted for and proven ridiculous. I can't remember what thread it was in, but it should be in my archive.

Yes it has been discussed before, but it doesnt mean it is not true,so i belive they have many reasons to worry
As they said,no smoke without fire !
