Thread: JUST 2 SENTENCES. IMPORTANT LUTFEN!

Quoting Dilara:

Actually "Endişelenme" means 'don't be worried / don't be anxious" it is one imperative command.
'endişelenmek' ıs the verb then 'endişelen' = be anxıous! and 'endişelenME = Don't be anxıous.
Any correctıons apprecıated!
Dilara.

Doğru Dilara, and also it can be a short infinitive

The verb is Endişelenmek means,

Endişelenmek
/dan/ to be anxious, be troubled, be concerned (about).

When we want to use imperative form, addressing someone,we use the root verb,
So it'd be
Endişelen ! ...Be anxious !

Btw,root verb is the verv without (mek, mak)

İn Turkish when we want to put the verb in negative form ,we again add suffix
And the negative suffix is (mA,mE )accourding to the vowel harmony

You look at it this way, when we add the nagative suffix,we creat another verb, but it's nagative verb,
So the verb would be
EndişelenMEmek... NOT to be anxious,NOT to be troubled

So now put the new verb into the imparetive form,it would be
EndişelenME !...DON'T be anxious,DON'T be troubled !

This form, EndişelenMEK, we call it the long infinitive, there is another form of the infinitive, we call it the short infinitive, and it be like this EndişelenME

Suffix of long infinitive are (mek, mak)
Suffix of short infinitive are (me,ma)

We use the long infinitive in general speaking forms, and we use the short infinitive in personal speaking forms

As here,

Yalan söyleMEK yanlış bir davranıştır.
Saying lie is a wrong behavour...... general speaking

(Senin) Yalan söyleMEn hiç hoş değil.
Your saying lie is not nice.....personal speaking,İ'm addressing someone

söyleMEn... your saying

Söyle.... is root verb of söylemek .. to say
Me.. is suffix for short infinitive
N...is suffix for the possessive pronouns

Note that, with the short infinitive,we always use the possessive pronouns, not the personal pronouns.

You can know the different if it is negative imperative,or short infinitive from the meaning of the sentence, and usually when using the short infinitive, there would be another main verb in the same sentence.

İ hope i helped to clear it some, not to confuse you.

Kolay gelsin

Quoting robin01:

im scared because...(subject) korkuyorum diye....

im confused because (subject) kafam karisti diye..

robin you are good! i've been trying to figure this out..is it true in Turkish sentences you don't use "I'm, I am, I'll, I will" like English?

Well,if you look at it that way, then i believe you can say that they use

İ am student....ben öğrencim
İ'm student...öğrencim

Öğrenci means student... and (m ) .. is (am )

As you see V.to be not a seperated word in Turkish, but it's a suffix.

And mostly in Turkish we don't say ben öğrencim, we just say öğrencim.

You are right, being from the East is a lucky thing, makes me understand the language and the tone which comeing behind it too,or as you call it the language sensibility, even our gramer is so close to Türkçe,
Which make me regret not paying attention to my own language gramer..he he

İ wish i can close my eyes and open them find myself know Türkçe like a native..lol

Just need the Türkçe fairy for that lol
