Quoting erdinc:

I think you are very lucky to have so understanding parents. Probably there is not even a single example of Turkish parents who would let their doughter at your age to go on holiday with a boyfriend.

Yes I realize that too. But not really about the holiday thing though, more the fact that I"m all alone. Many of my friends go on holidays with their boyfriends. But it are boyfriends that are well-known by the family by the time they go on holiday.. So holidays to Turkey with boyfriends are accepted here, but not holidays to a bf in Turkey i guess. Especially not moving there. I realize each time what an understanding parents i have, eventhough they havent' said yes yet.

Türkçe konuşmak denerim

I try to talk Turkish

Couldn't it also be:

Türkçe konuşmak (için?) çalışırım.

I've seen the verb 'çalışmak' being used for several things, like 'studying' and 'trying' too, isntead of only 'working'.

Is it some kind of music DVD? It's not available yet in the UK, so I don't know what I'll think of it.. but I see Sezen Aksu, so it must be nice

No it's a film which doesn't play in the 'commercial' cinemas, but more in the cultured ones. I haven't seen it yet, but I have the filmposter I stole it from the culture-classroom at school

It's not available on DVD yet in Holland (are you in UK now?), but it's in the cinemas now. After that, I think it will be available in dvd-shops as well.

Just wanted to share with you all that I will see Kadir again on the 20th of July till the 3rd of August. We will go to Altın Yunus Otel in Çeşme. Not really my first choice as I don't like big luxury complexes, but there wasn't much choice left. I'm looking forward to it enormously. Not seeing each other is horrible, but not knowing whne you'll see each other again is worse. Now we finally have a date to count to

I will go back after this holiday to finish my job here within the legal terms and make more money. Also, I will have more time to prepare insurance papers etc and I can take a new suitcase with me.

When going through the books about Türkiye with my parents, I felt like i was showing them 'home'. They also invited Kadir over to our appartment (it's against the rules, but who cares ) and he offered us to stay with him too. It's gonna be so great

Sorry for making a new thread about this. Couldn't find the 'where are you gonna go on holiday' threads anywhere

Quoting Joey:

For British passport holders the 3 month visa costs £10.
I am not sure about hepatitis A but we had vaccination and booster which was supposed to give 10 years protection but that must have expired by now.

Yeah, in euros it will be 15 It took me hours, but then i finally got through the phoneline of the british embassy. And because i got annoyed and bored whilst being put in wait, i posted a (frustrated) post up here

And I'm gonna try to reach the insurance now. Huge changes have took place in the Dutch insurance-system, so i think we might even get it covered

Thank you all for the replies.

Everywhere I read that people from West Europe should get vaccinated for the Hepatitis A virus, which causes serious illnesses that cna go on for several months. I've visited Turkey twice now, but it wasn't in the summer tourism season. The price for my family getting vaccinated will be around 250€, which is pretty much now that we only could book an expensive hotel (most of the dutch tour operators were booked full already). So we dont actualyl want to spend 250€ on vaccins, unless you people think it's a good idea.

Who of the TC members who go to Turkey get vaccinated first?

--

Second question: for a Dutch passport, a holiday visa is 10€ and can be bought at the airport, and is valid for 3 months. How is this for a british passport? My mother only has a British Passport and she's really a worry-person..
Will that be around the same? Or will she be troubled on the turkish border by having a British passport?

Thanks in advance.

Goodnight everyone I'm off to bedfordshire early because I have lots of sleep to catch up on.

"Sarılıp yatmazsam uyku girmez gözüme"

And tomorrow my shift at work starts at noon, so I can't REALLY sleep in either. Yaşar Kemal is waiting for me (his book obviously!), so I'm off and I wish you a very nice and silly (referring to Aenigma, Lyndie and Sophie if they are around ) evening.
