I've sent money a couple of times and I sent it through the Post Office by Moneygram. It was cheaper than Western Union and the money was available to collect within about half an hour.

BTW Richard - little late I know, but Congratulations on your marriage to Nesrin. I followed your story on here for quite some time now and it's so nice to hear a happy ending

Hi Angelina7,
That is interesting that you have sent money through Moneygram, thanks I will look into that option, is is safe? Thanks for the congratulations it is never too late Ange
Best wishes Rich and Nes

I am with Deli_Kizin on this one, Western Union is really the safest and easiest way to do it. Is it too overpriced but I have had many problems sending from bank account to bank account where the money didn't show up properly, got lost, you name it, and it ended up being a costly affair anyway. At this point I only trust Western Union even though I cringe every time I use it.

I am still thinking about this service azade, yes the cost seems a lot to transfer a relatively small amount of money they must make a small fortune.

Western Union is indeed expensive, but it is safe. I used it several times and am very happy about it, especially because the one you send it to can pick up the money the next day, whereas other transfers take several days.

Actually I dont know of any other transfer systems.. From a Dutch bankaccount you can just send money to a Turkish bankaccount, but you pay both exchange rate and costs to the bank, and it takes quite some time. I dont know for UK though.

Depending on the amount of money you send, Id go for western union.

Hi Deli,
Yes Western Union does seem the best and most importantly safest option I just do not agree with their high charges to send a greater amount of money
Thanks

Hi all,
I was wondering how the best method was to send money to Turkey from the U.K. I have looked at Western Union and also Moneybookers.com which both seem expensive. I have an e-bay account and did think about PAYPAL but my wife would have to have a U.S. bank account in order to receive it there.

How do other members here send their relatives money in Turkey if they are living in the U.K. any other ideas?
Thanks

I just like to add here that if my wife Nesrin chose a Turkish man I would probably never ever met her in the first instance I am very pleased she chose to follow her heart when we first conversed.

wow..You are a really good man Loveprague.. I am very pleased one of the girls from my country had a good catch

I am the lucky one thehandsom I am a genuine guy and I did try many years to find an 'English girl' but fell in love with a beautiful Turkish lady who is now my beloved wife. There is alot more to Nesrin than anyone I have ever met in my life, the real feelings are there and she has always been very patient during our many times apart. This will be for no longer I will be in Istanbul in April 2008 to stay. Thanks for your comment!

I am sure Istanbul WILL suit you and you WILL suit Istanbul Loveprague.
Good luck with everything..

Yes thankyou I am sure it will, I have been lucky to visit on six occassions and now I finally can stay for the foreseable future at last.
Best wishes Loveprague

Hi everyone,
I have decided to leave England in the next two months to be with my wife in Istanbul, I am looking at a period of two years to start with and who knows what will happen after that. I have to inform my employer very soon which will be hard because I actually like my job very much but there is more waiting for me in Turkey than here in England.

My family are the hardest people to say goodbye to I am very close to my mum especially and friends will be also very hard to tell that I am leaving. I still hope to be around here on T.C. when I move but maybe not as often as I like to, the first month I arrive I will start a Turkish course in Taksim. Gorusmek uzere
