Hello Everyone,

Hope we are all well? just an update on life for myself and my family as I never seem to visit much these days.

Our daughter Melissa turned six months last friday 11th December she is growing up fast, her operation should be sheduled for the last week in Feb 2010 (Melissa has a cleft of the soft palate) so we are both anxiously waiting for this to be over and she can then start her life to the full.  I am a full-time dad with a small income selling ladies shoes and the occassional english conversational classes, my wife retires in the summer of 2010 and we will go back to the U.K. for a few years although we will keep our apartment here in Istanbul to come back to for holidays and perhaps if we decided to come back.

I am still learning Turkish at a slower rate, it does not help if your wife speaks good English you become lazy.  We are just getting ready for our second christmas in Turkey and will have our family visit for the 25th Dec for dinner.

I am on Facebook alot more than T.C. class so anyone who uses this social network site I have posted more pictures of our daughter and my Turkish family.

Best wishes

Rich, Nes and Melissa

Hello everyone,

I hope we are all well? sorry it has been sometime again now since my last post and I have a bit of spare time so thought I would drop in with an update on life in Istanbul.

My daughter is now nearly five months old and I am a full-time dad, a job was not certain but there was an opening at Ataturk airport however with my wife working now four days a week and having Friday off there was nobody to look after our daughter Melissa.  I am now looking for any work that is home based if anyone has any ideas then I would really appreciate your input.  We looked into the idea of a childminder or babysitter but as you can appreciate they are both expensive and ideally when you first have a young baby not something myself anyway would consider.

My wife finishes her job next August and retires at 45, yes this is true, we then plan to go back to the U.K. to live but keep our apartment here in Turkey available should we return later.  I will go back to full-time work hopefully at the hospital and we will just see how it goes? we both said we are not sure about later so we will see.

Anyway have to go my daughter has just woke!

Take care all Loveprague

A very sad day watching the news coverage for most of the day, we are not far away from most of the worst flooding and just want to express our deepest sympathy for all those that have died and are hopes for the people still missing that they will be found

Hi all,

First of all I am sorry it has been such a longtime since I last visited, I hope all of you are well.  I have been busy looking after our new arrival Melissa infact she is now ten weeks old already and I am enjoying every minute with her.

I often find it hard to meet Native English people in Istanbul and often would just like to meet up sometimes with someone for a coffee or tea, I have my Turkish friends and a limited number of English friends living in Istanbul but usually they are all very busy.  As I am going to be the dad that looks after the baby when my wife returns to work there will be less time to think about this.

Bye for now Rich
