Quoting ekd:

i was just wondering, it it usual for couples to live together before marriage in turkey?

Hello ekd!
As far as i know, it is unusual in Turkiye for young couples to live together without being married.. i had this curiousity and i asked my ex turkish boyfriend who told me it is also not normal for someone to spend the night over at his girlfriend or her boyfriend's house. In a way i agree with this way of thinking because i am a bit old fashioned but on the other hand i think its wiser and better for young people to spend time together in order to see if they are getting along, sitting in the same house, sharing duties and responsibilities.

Quoting CANLI:

What do you do when you miss someone so much ?

I don't think that there is a cure in the world to make you stop from missing someone..the only things you can do is look at his/her pictures, remember the good times you shared together, smile but also cry in the same time because he/she is not with you
But there is a small solution:call him/her to hear his/her voice just for a second
Distance is hard thing to deal with..

This is an article from today's Hurryiet:
http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/english/5355526.asp?gid=74

"The number of deaths resulting from flooding in Turkey's southeast over the last 2 days has reportedly risen to 25. A minibus carrying passengers from Mardin to Diyarbakir was swept over by floods, with 14 people losing their lives yesterday.

And in Diyarbakir, 8 people were reported killed by flooding, with 1 more killed in Bismal. Flooding in so severe in the region that area schools have been called off for the day."

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/11/01/turkey.floods.reut/index.html

"DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (Reuters) -- Flash floods caused by torrential rain have killed 21 people across southeast Turkey, most swept away in their vehicles, officials said on Wednesday.

Fourteen people died when floods overwhelmed a minibus in Cinar on the road from the region's largest city Diyarbakir as it travelled to a wedding in the neighboring province of Mardin.

Another three people were killed in floods in Diyarbakir's Bismil district after hours of heavy rain overnight swept away many vehicles. Six people were still missing there.

Helicopters and boats supported rescue efforts in Cinar and Bismil, bringing to safety 300 people stranded in their homes.

Authorities sent a 25-strong search and rescue team to help with relief efforts in the southeastern province of Sirnak bordering Iraq, where four people died, including two infants.

Some houses were also damaged in the floods. Among the dead in Sirnak was a 70-year killed by falling debris from a house."

This is a song i like to listen a lot lately...It's Pussycats Dolls- I dont need a man!

I don't need a man to make it happen
I get off being free
I don't need a man to make me feel good
I get off doing my thing
I don't need a ring around my finger
To make me feel complete
So let me break it down
I can get off when you ain't around
Oh!

You know I got my own life
And I bought everything that's in it
So if you want to be with me
It ain't all about the bling you bringing
I want a love that's for real
And without that then no deal
And baby I don't need a hand
If it only wants to grab one thing

The more you try
The less I buy it
And I don't have to think it through
You know if I'm feeling you

This is some information from Hurriyet newspaper regarding the bombings that took place this summer(august)in Marmaris:

http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/english/5321272.asp?gid=74

"The central suspect in this summer's bombing in the resort city of Marmaris, which injured 21 people including a significant number of foreign tourists, has been caught by police following a tip from his father.

27 year old Memet Y., whose fingerprints were identified on the bomb material in the wake of the incident in Marmaris, had been in hiding since August 27, but was caught yesterday when his father alerted police after the suspect arrived on a Bayram visit to his mother and other relatives in Gaziatep.

A statement from Memet Y.'s father yesterday was as follows: "Our village has always produced brave, courageous and honest people. I am embarrassed to have such a son."

Following Memet Y.'s testimony yesterday in Mugla police headquarters, police there said that the suspect had also been picked up previously in connection with a bombing in Antalya, but had been set free when there was not enough evidence to hold him."
