pmitride,

There is a sticky thread under this forum section called "useful links for learners". In that thread you can find a few more useful links besides verbix. Cheers.

Sorry, I hadn´t explored those threads. It´s really useful indeed, would be worth a special link.

personally I think BYKI doesn´t really know where it stands.

1. not a language method

2. not a travel phrase book

3. a half-heartened expression/vocabulary builder

4. a half-hearntened pronounciation tool

After trying it, I opted for :

1. a proper language method (Teach Yourself Turkish with CDs, excellent imho)

2. a dictionary

3. Mnemosyne (www.mnemosyne-proj.org/)

4. Turkish Class.com

Söylemeden geçemeyeceğim. Ne kadar güzel resimler. İnsan bu resimlere bakarak sayfalar dolusu şiir yazabilir.

something like:

I have to say this. How beautiful these pictures are. Seeing those pictures people could write pages and pages of poems.

Thanks a lot for clarifying the dedi vs söyledi, I was wondering how that

worked and I´m sad I missed the verb short form endings. Better next

time.

As a beginner I still find it hard to understand the ´olmadığını´ söyledi bit.

Another example I have is ´Arkadaş güzel olduğunu düşünüyorum´.

So, with expressions like ´He say/said that´ or ´I think that´ you always take

the -dik (or -ecek) form, then its a possessive ending then accusative ending, right ?

This is a great exercise. Here´s my try :

1) Iran Kıbrıs sorunu arabulucu olmak teflik etti.
2) Iran daha önce Türkiye-Ermenistan sorunu için arabulucu olmak kabul etti.
3) Babacan bu teklife önce çok şaşırdı, ama sonra teklif için teşekkür etti.
4) Babacan Kıbrıs sorununu BM´in çözmesini istiyor.
5) Babacan teşekkür etti ve şu teklif mümkün olmadığı dedi.
6) BM´in çözmesini bekliyoruz.
7)  nükleer programı, arabuluculuk teklifi

merhaba,

could someone propose a little translatıon ? Despite the dictionary I can´t understand what the disaster (felaket), money and/or tea issue are about. Is the author complaining that they had to pay for the 3 teas ?

----------------------------------------------

Üçer çay içtik. (we had 3 teas each)

Tamam abarttık biliyorum ama hakikaten hem sohbet derindi hem de çay felaket güzeldi.

Sıra hesabı ödemeye geldi adam bizden çayların da parasını aldı. Tabi tıpış tıpış ödedik. Ama bu mevzu benim içime dert oldu. Zaten yemeğe o kadar parayı vermişim ne diye çaya para vereceğim.

----------------------------------------------

teşekkürler

P
