i can't agree with you, canli!

i think hitit 1 gives enough vocabulary and knowledge to be able to tell a bit about yourself, your family and friends, to be able to ask for directions in the street, to do shopping.

though i think this book still lacks exercises making you speak. and it is important when you study on your own. of course if i were a teacher using this book, i would find many ways to make my students speak.

After she finished her speach, she began checking students’ homeworks staying in front. She looked like as if she never spoke. I also knew why she was behaving like that. Because she was afraid of being a target board herself. It gave me a real pleasure to struggle with her. When I insisted, she was trying to answer angrily.

Pencere tarafında, masasındaki kitaplarını toplamakta olan Almanca Hocası yaşlı Maria, şişman ellerini hoplayan göbeğine bastırarak bir kahkaha attı ve bozuk İngilizcesiyle:
-Tanrım! Ne kadar da kendinizi beğenmişsiniz, Fatih Bey! Sizin gibi birisini gerçekten, şimdiye kadar tanımadım!” dedi. ->
Maria, an aged, fat teacher of German, collecting the books from her table near the window, clasped her hands (???) and told in her broken English:
- My god! How much you like yourself, Mr. Fatih! Really I have never met anyone like you!

i also find the story so curious i'll try to take part in translating the next part again

Bunu söylerken, gök mavisi gözlerinin içi gülüyordu. -> Saying this, she was smiling with her sky-blue eyes.

Amacının ikaz etmekten çok, beni yanına çağırmak ve bir konuşma ortamı yaratmak olduğunu hissettim. -> I felt that her aim was more than to warn me but to call me to come closer to her and make a talk.

Otuz yaşlarında, oldukça güzel, sempatik tavırlı dul bir hanımdı. -> She was thirty years old, quite beautiful, with nice manners, a widow.

Fransız edebiyatı doktoruydu. She was a doctor of French literature.

Ãœstelik İngilizcesi de oldukça iyiydi. -> Also her English was rather good.

Sıkça yaptığım gibi, yine dalgınlıkla, ikinci kata çıkmıştım. -> As I often did, again deep in thoughts, I went to the second floor.

Kendi kendime sinirlenerek geri döndüm. -> Being annoyed with myself I turned back.
