ooh yes, it makes some sense now. thank you!

but still a question remaining.. why couldn't ı use ayşe'miştir? it relates to past and it is a guess (tahmin)..

why?

Merhaba! Could anyone please check this sentence for me. I’m not sure about the –miştir part of it...

Akşam beni bir kız aramış, herhalde Ayşe’miştir.– İn the evening a girl called me up, I’m sure it was Ayşe.

Also, I have some strong doubts about how to translate such sentences like:

Büyükelçimiz, Dışişleri Bakanı ile görüşmektedir. - Our ambassador to meet with the Minister of foreign affairs.

What do such structures mean?

Çok teşekkür ederim

This is street is in Murat district (Gaziosmanpaşa), the nearby street is Fethiye Sokak.

But now I've got doubts: either the street is very very small, or I was told wrong...

Nooo, the name of the street must sound like this: Yeni...köy (i need to restore the missing part of the name actually..)

I've searched that google map and could find only the nearby streets that i know. Maybe my street is really small to be shown at such a map...

Anyway, thanx guys!

Dear people of TC!! Especially Ankara citizens!

Please help me to recollect the name of a street in Ankara. Maybe it is so small that I can't find it on the online maps

It is s.where in the district of Murat (Gaziosmanpaşa?). The name starts with Yeni and finishes with Köy, and the translation of it is "new old village" (new bec. the old one was burnt or s.thing).

It sounds like a puzzle, I'm so sorry, dear. But please please!!!

i'm trying to learn turkish since january 2006, because of my tr bf (we're no more together... ) and my job (i work in a tr company).

my first source was this site and it is mainly because of it that i am still making efforts to learn. it really keeps my strong interest. thanx a lot to everybody!!!

then, at the end of june, my bf sent me tr language book (tomer, ankara univ.). so now i am doing it, almost every day. i listen to the tapes (they are soooo helpful!). i do exercises (first my bf checked them, now nobody does, so it goes its own way... most probably with lots of mistakes).

when another tr friend of mine is back from his vacation, i'm gonna practice chatting to him.

but mostly i'm trying to pick up words from the conversations in the office (each time a word is pronounced clearly, i look it up and of course try to memorise; also i can recognise the words i've already learnt). but i don't speak in tr in the office (tho i think i could as of now...) that's the matter of politics let's say i don't wanna them know i can understand (tho a bit at the moment, but i'm gonna improve, am i not? )

so, my only chance is to talk to my tr friend...

haaa, and i've also bought an online package of lessons (also tomer's) but - that's upsetting - there are very minutes in the office when i can listen to the dialogues (no internet at home ) and it could be really great to practice listening comprehension skills
