What is it with registering telephones and all? I've got a Turkcell simcard, and only use it (in my sim-lock free phone) when I'm in Turkey. I have never heard of this registering thing at all, and it's still working!

Please inform me

Chantal

In my experience it happens after a while, probably randomly. My hubby used my old danish phone i Turkey for a while, but then it suddenly closed so we paid the fee (to Turkcell) but it closed again shortly, then opened itself a month after.
I don't understand it but will definitely buy a turkish cell for my turkish simcard when I can afford it.

it could be where you have got your phone unlocked or where it was not on a contract before..pay as you go(top up credut mobiles) are usually fine and don't get shut off.

Your boyfriend is generalising - maybe his family are especially religious or from a small village.

My bf works in a bank dealing wiz computer engineeering. He was born in Istanbul. His family is not very religious, they fast during Ramadan.I know many samples of girls being forced to accept islam after marraige. By the way, the kids in international families indicated as MUSLIM regarding their religy. And how can a non muslim mother bring up a future muslim not knwoing the principles of muslim religy?? in the long run she will have to accept islam. I wanna hear opinions of christiam females married to turks

i dont know any christian women married to turkish men but i do women that are atheist who are married with turkish men.. and they are happy together despite not belieiving in Islam.and for the record children cannot be forced into Islam, they have to swear into islam of their free will if they so wish when they are old enough..

I'm a practicing catholic married to a turkish guy. Before we got married thats the first thing i ask him if he will oblige me to convert to muslim/Islam, wear hijab etc. He said no . "Your religion is your religion". Regarding with the kids (insa allah) the kids will be practicing Islam and when they are old enough to choose then they choose either Islam or Catholic.

+1! wise words from your husband
No-one should have to change their relationship due to a relationship. They should truly believe in it. Otherwise, like Aenigma said, it's being a hypocrite to the religion because your commitment to the religion is based on false facts.

P.S. Hope you have happy life together

mheart72, I am also a Catholic and will be marrying a Turk. He has said the exact same thing to me regarding religion. I have found his family to be very open minded as well. Yilmaz (my fiance) also accompanies me when I visit the Catholic church in Taksim.

I did think it was very cute in funny when he first went in with me we were holding hands and he asked if we could continue to hold hands when we entered the church. He is very accepting and understanding of my faith and I of his and I love that respect for each other.

Best wishes to you and your husband!!!

Lovebug (Wendy)
