As far as I know telephone lines are still safe. Stay in the safety of your hotel and order what you want via telephone.
It is not worth the risk, exposing yourself to any unnecessary dangers..

Quoting Delidolu: QUESTION: where should I shop best in Istanbul?Kapalli Carsi or somewhere else?I read in a mag that I can find cheaper prices in Taksim i think but I'm not sure. |
What do you want to buy? Where will you be staying?
We have wonderful department stores, state of the art shopping malls, IKEA, Carrefour etc etc. If I know what you wnat and where you will stay I can suggest some good alternatives.
For books there is, of course, just one place: Greenhouse in Kadikoy on the Asian side! Come and see me there.
