Elisabeth...

The border between Turkia and Iraq is a stupid unnatural border, drawn by some drunk greedy Brit: His single concern was to keep the oil on the Iraq side, which he believed would be easier to control. No human concerns were involved at all.................

Um....sorry to contradict you dear AlphaF...but it was primarily drawn up by a woman...Gertrude Bell to be exact.

Gertrude Margaret Lowthian Bell CBE (July 14, 1868 – July 12, 1926) was a British writer, traveller, political analyst, administrator in Arabia, and an archaeologist who found Mesopotamian ruins. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1917.

"Bell and T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) are recognized as almost wholly responsible for creating the Hashimite dynasty in Jordan and the modern state of Iraq. During her life, she was an unrecognised force behind the success of the Arab revolt in World War I. At the conclusion of the war, she drew up borders within Mesopotamia to include the three Ottoman Empire vilayets that later became Iraq."

Gertrude Bell

She was a very "interesting" woman. In her biography and letters one sees many of the same problems today as then.

It was Bell who trained Lawrence and later introduced him to the sheiks who led the Arab Revolt. She was going through the desert cultivating those relationships and recruiting Arabs against the Ottomans before Lawrence was born.

One thing in her defense is she did respect the archaeological treasures of Mesopotamia as she was responsible for starting the Baghdad Archaeological Museum.

violating borders is also a kind of terrorism. some turks are still dreaming the times of the Ottoman Empire. They dream annexation of Northern Iraq. This is called irredentism and this is called chauvinism. please wake up! The Ottoman Empire is over! Now, there is Turkish Republic founded by Ataturk.

if you dream annexing Nothern Iraq then please do not get angry when Armenians demand land from Turkey! Because you do the same thing!

Attacking another country does not make you powerfull in the eyes of foreigners. In fact many foreigners see the attacks by Turkish Army unacceptable.

why should two brothers curse each other, just because they were condemned to live on different sides of a border?

its very natural to easterners to cirse each other.
the mother cursing her son.
the son cursing the mother.
brothers/cousins ready to open a fight just over a stupid joke or insult taking out a knife.

there will be no peace in middle east until they change their mentality.
