I am an English teacher from the U.S., and I would be interested in speaking Turkish people about their experiences with school. I really want to learn more about the educational system because I am very interested in teacher there someday (if I am fortunate). I am going to try to learn some of the Turkish language so that I can communicate better, as well. If your interested in practicing your English, I can help, too.

Marc, what level of Turkish educational system are you interested in? (High school, university etc.) And there are important differences between public high schools/universities and private ones. It would be easier if you can make the question a little more specific. If you know the specific school you want to teach in, that will also help a lot.

welcome to the turkishclass forum. I`m a turkish teacher for nine years. Currently I work in London and am still employed by the Turkish ministry of education. As Fatih said if you have specific question we will be more than happy to help you.
I will try to make a summary in gerenal. Most primary and secondary schools are government schools where teachers have been employed by the ministry of education. These schools cant choose their own teachers.
The schools you are interested in are either private primary or secondary schools or universities. Universities also devide into two groups as the official ones and the private ones. But there is more flexibility with official universities. The private universities are the most populat places to consider for lecturers like you. If you want to teach english in turkey you definately want to have a tefl certificate which is possible to get in less than 2 months when full time and in 6 months when part time.

I need help from someone who studies on Istanbul Universitesi or is able to get information from there.
I' thinking about going to Istanbul with Erasmus/Socrates schlarschip. But to fill the forms I need to find out which of subject I have to attend in my university are also in Istanbul Universitesi. But it is impossible for me to find out it because the web pages of particular faculties and departments of IU don't open.

That's why I need your help. I need to find the following subjets:
sociology of art ( or some subject connected to general sociology or cultural sociology)
methodicts with elements of art ( or any pedagogical subject connected to art or culture)
marketing of art ( or any subject connected to economics in art, media economics etc)
graphic designing
history of art, especially classic Ottoman Architecture and Art ( I found only the Turkish version of this course: Klasik Donem Osmanli Sanati - and this is exactly what I need, but I cannot find anything in English about this course on the website)

hello, I ran into this page by great fortune I think, and now I'd like to post my question here and I really hope that someone can give me an answer...
I am Turkish but I was born and raised in Germany. I now finished my studies in English and Social studies at the university and am preparing now for the first Staatsexamen. In the past my aim was to become an English teacher in Germany but due to some change in my privat life I want to emigrate to Turkey after having passed my first Staatsexamen. Unfortunately to being able to pass the second Staatsexamen and become a teacher I have to finish a period of practical training which would take me another 24 months. But I don't want to do that, because I want to be in Turkey as soon as possible.
So now my question is, am I able to become a teacher in Turkey without having passed the second Staatsexamen? Is it possible to become a teacher by only having passed the first Staatsexamen and the TOEFL?
I would be endlessly glad, if someone could give me some information about this issue.

You can work in private schools and some university if you have a university degree on any field and have also a certificate on teaching English. Of course a bechalors degree on English would be great but if you don't have a degree on English then you need either a tefl, celta, delta or tesol certificate.

There are few different certificates. I think the most common ones are tefl (not toefl), celta.

I need the ECTS Guide of Department of History of Art and Dept. of Sociology (Faculty of Letters) and Dept. of Journalism (Faculty of Communication)- I need to know ECTS points for particular courses from that pages but they just don't open!
If there is anyone who knows the courses, theirs codes and ECTS points or just can open the pages - please, send me printsceens from thet peges or write to me about those courses!!!

Gaba, I don't think this is a problem of your connection but a problem with their server, so nobody can open it until the problem is fixed by the university. You might have to call them or otherwise you won't get the information.
