I think you are kidding. Şaka mı yapıyorsun? To girl dormitories even male flies are not allowed to enter (erkek sinek bile giremez) let alone male visitors to enter the building. Staying over the night there is obviously unimaginable.

There are only a few exceptions to this where inside some university campuses both male and female dormitrories are located in the same area. They might use some facilities together such as dining areas. To what city are you going anyway?

That sounds so weird to me.. In Holland when you go on a camp on primary school the kids of 12 years old already complain that girls and boys cannot be mixed.. but to think of that after your primary school is very unlikely here. I would't be surprised if the parents of children older than 16 years here would start to complain if boys and girls cannot be mixed But this is the other side of an extreme ofcourse.. But it sounds kinda weird to me that in a dormitory, where mostly people over 18 years live, you are not allowed to decide for yourself if you have someone staying overnight, no matter what gender.. as long as you don't bother roommates?

I am going to Izmir and I am not even sure yet if i will go to a dormitory, I need to find out what it is like first. I actually hope one of kadir's female friends needs a roommate or something.

I wouldn't mind to stay over night in his house during the weekends ofcourse, but seeing the fact he shares his appartment with his best friend Gökhan.. I'd say it would not be unpleasant to go to my 'place' too.

Is there internet connection in dormitories.. and what about food and costs? Do you have a shared bathroom and kitchen with all of the building, or is it more like an appartment u share with several girls?

Izmir will be fine in many ways but choose a modern dormitrory. There are some religious organisations who are in this bussiness and even the ordinary citizens of İzmir wouldnt send their doughters to such a place. You need to get information before you decide on a place. There are many details to take into account.

Yes, you are right.. that's why i definitely need to know as much as possible about them.

I already told Kadir to find me information of the dormitory that is close to his house. He told me there was one close to him and i am sure he wouldnt send me to somewhere religious. But as he is a medical student and missed out a whole week of school because of my stay (and due to this failed one of his exams), i don't want to claim him the coming few weeks, because he should catch up on his study first.

Unfortunately, my 'investigation' shouldn't be delayed anylonger.. It's March now.. My exams start in May, i will work during June and July and at the end of July I will already move..(i plan to), so i need to find everything out now.

Points that i need to know

- costs
- what do they cover? (electricity costs included? breakfast? water? whatever that could or could not be included?)
- how much do you generally spend a month for food and clothing?
- how much do you generally spend a month for public transport?
- How are you insured as a student? Or is this different when you are a foreigner?

If anyone else knows some details that i should be aware of or questions that i should find out as well, please let me know.

Maybe you can mention where you are going to study and where exactly the place is located. So you would get better information. You might consider opening a new thread names "Do you know dormitrories close to ..."

Distance is important. I can't help you with other details but I know about the insurance thing. If you are a student of a university the universities health clinic will provide service for you but this will be limited to basic things. You need to contact with the university about your status during your stay.
If your boyfriend is a medical student he will help you on this issue.
