well I am a professional quiter. I have successfully quit at least 5 times. I find the patch helps me the best but then as soon as I´m done with the patches the urge is there. I´m sure its mental but I still feel the urge at least 10 minutes after I remove it.
I also have thought of trying the chantix, but anything that a major side affect is suicidal thoughts scares the crap out of me! So from every resource I have found the success rate to be the highest from quitting cold turkey and not getting frustrated by slip up.
i signed up at becomeanex.org, its at least giving me a little added support. Might help you too. Good luck dear!

Once a chain smoker of the worst kind, I quit in February, 2001 after having smoked for 15 years. I still remember the 14th of February as one of the most important days in my life. Never ever smoked a single cigarette since then. I just quit it and embraced the dire consequences.
I knew by practical thinking that the craving would someday go away and thankfully it really did.

Well done Vineyards. Yes, I think I am going to go "cold Turkey" like you. Maybe it is vanity, but I think it is a good test of strength of character

Yes, I think I am going to go "cold Turkey" like you.
It is not "cold Turkey", but "cold turkey"! The "turkey" in the phrase does not refer to the country, but to the bird.
The phrase "cold turkey" describes the skin´s reaction to heroin withdrawal. As an addict stops using the drug, blood is drawn toward the internal organs, leaving the skin to resemble a cold, plucked turkey. The phrase is dated to 1910 and it originally meant "without preparation", referring to the ease of making a dish of cold turkey.

in fact smoking cause more kidneys cancers than lungs´ ......
you may try this:
for 21-30 days every morning and then every hour tell yourself "I m non-smoker" just his phrase. Feel yourself so. imagine yourself person who does not smoke. though you may smoke during this period. do not connect this to any reminder like alarm or cell ring.

I quit for almost 4 years cold turkey. Missed it everyday...the craving never left me. But I do know for certain many of my friends have quit using the new script Lis was referring to Chantix. I would suggest trying this if you can get the script, it´s pricey here in the U.S.
One suggestion take stock in coffee stirrers, if you smoke in your car. For some reason holding these and chewing on them while driving helped me. Sounds funny, but worked at least for 4 years. The worst part for me was drinking coffee and after a meal, that´s when the craving was the worst. I think if you have your mind made up and stay focused you can do it.
I simply went out with the girls one night and had a drink, bummed a smoke and bought a pack...that´s how easy it is to pick it up again. Good Luck!

I guess it was "on purpose". It´s another proof that she´s here to attack Turkey in anyway she can.

You should use your "brain power" (everybody has it), not anything else and stop it immediately. I know many people around doing it without any help. They just decided and did it.
