Hi everyone,

I was wondering how the singer Tarkan is viewed in Turkey? Do people like him, find him silly, do they think he is a good singer with a good voice etc etc? What kind of people listen to his songs?

thanks

Hi, Im not a turkish but i admire Tarkan and his songs. And my turk betfriend sent me several songs of Tarkan and i even requested him to buy Tarkan's poster and send to me via air freight. I dont know what kind of people listen to his music but describing myself, i like his songs not only in turkish language especially his latest album Come Closer which are all in English version.

How i wish i could watch his concert coz i love watching concerts and join and dance with the rhythm of the songs being rendered by a singer, you can forget the hazzles and bazzles of life. I didnt find Tarkan as silly but a best singer with good songs and an excellent performer.

his voice is strong and beautiful. you can hear it especially in his slow songs(unutmamalı, sorma kalbim, yandım...)and when you listen dudu or şiımarık you can"t help dancing!isn"t it so and he is the man of peace.he refused to do military service because he thinks that man has absolutelly no need of soldiers, wars, weapons and so on.as a girl i can"t deny he is sooooo sexy but i don"t like him only because of his appearance.his music just drives me crazy!

I stopped entering my daughter's room since she hung a poster of him on her door. Little devil, she could have asked for some privacy, instead of using such tricks!

I was just curious which songs were famous in Holland, because i got totally confused about them whaha. And i tried to trace them, but it didn't work.

I'm not too fond of his songs and i don't agree that he has a strong voice. The fact i don't like his music, is that it all sounds quite weak.. But maybe i will change my midn when i learn to understand all the lyrics. And i don't like his looks at all. I'm not sure if i think he looks worse than Gökhan Özen, but who would care anyway

I do think that Hepsi senin mi and Aman aman feat. Wyclef Jean are really cool and i listen them a lot. şımarık was nice too.

But he does answer my need to easy-listening Turkish songs for summer-feeling. You can definitely find him on my ipod these days, i will just not count him to my 'quality-singers'.

My first ever experience of Tarkan, like so many english people I suspect, was Şimarık. I still love it and it was the first Turkish song i learned to sing. Imagine how rich he became just on that song alone, which is still so popular and must be at least 10 years old.

I also love Bu Gece, (the disco version) which reminds me of hot summer nights.
Actually I cant think of a single song of his that I dont like.
Sophie, I'll remember the invitation to come and stay! (and i'm not joking)

If Tarkan ever decides to try out heterosexuality, I'll be just the woman to assist!

Does it really matter whether he is gay, bisexual or straight? Are any of you going to ever have the chance to find out hehe. You can all just lust from afar (he is not my type !)

As to Tarkan not admitting to being gay - it is a different situation for him than Brian Molco or Ville Valo, because he is an idol and may lose his female fans if he "confesses".

what??!! You consider Tarkan as a silly singer?! I loved his music since I listened to his tube 'simarik'. His voice makes me crazy, he's a really a clever singer cause he knows how to choose the music and how to play wih his voice. Even if you cannot understand the lyrics; you can understand the song through his beautiful voice and performing. I like also his looking (eyes) ....And my best songs are: dudu, unut beni, basina bela olurum, bounce...Tarkan! you are the best (very very clever)

Well, I think a duet between Shakira and him could turn out to be really nice! As long as he stays FAR away from singing in English and making western beats, because the only thing he has in favour as an artist above Western popartists, is a rhythmic and poetic language, and an Oriental beat that gets me off my seat! (Oh what a nice rhyme )

Im not such a big fan of her either, but she seems rather down to earth to me, not very egoistic and 'publicity-horny' as some other artists these days. And I would feel very blessed to have her hips But her voice, no I'll stick to mine, eventhough it doesnt bring me millions
