This is only a suggestion!

I think it will be very useful to have a  functionality of ´ignoring users´ in TC.

Ie if you ignore me you dont see my posts, if I ignore a user, I dont see that user´s posts. 

i think it would not comes in good results by doing so ,because the ignoring user could not avail the usefull information/post provided by that user.We should give them the chance to avail the benefits from the oppertunity rather than to ignore .

No. If we only follow those people who we like we never learn to endure those who we don´t like. And there is an important lesson in the latter.

I prefer the old style. The one who cannot stand someone here or accept the rules can just raise the clutch and go.

 A public forum allows all. Users  must all be allowed to express  ideas and thoughts and if you don´t agree either say so without insulting the person or say nothing and move on to another topic. Sometimes we all write verbal diarrhea but sometimes we also share pertinent information.

I agree. Sometimes I behave like a troll but sometimes I share useful information If someone blocked me, it would be bad for him/her in the end. I wouldn´t want anybody to be in that position   (Especially you Kelowna)

Of course these are just personal opinions but why is it wrong giving the freedom of choice to the users? It is just like facebook. You can block a user. I think it is a valid and useful function.

I have and do use the block function of Facebook, but Facebook is more personal, you can actually know the people there.

for instance I dont agree TV so I dont watch it.....

and I think it cant be compared Turkish Class to facebook...(even I have an account at facebook, I dont read all posts..but I love to read here, at TC..my point of view..)

I think you might have thought what fascism is as you have been accused of being one many times and you are one in your heart. But i think my idea was very clear:

Yes you dont like watching TV and then switch to a ´better channel´, you switch to a less ´garbage´ channel. That is what I am trying to do here.. Having freedom to ignore some of the programmes which you think it is garbage.. Why having this ability bother you or others?

I think FB is a social media and so as TC. It is a kind of ´freedom of choice´. Freedom of choice can not be a bad thing.. can it?

We like being here in this site. That is for sure.

I think the function I am asking for  will improve the site´s quality.

I dont think anybody has authority or should have authority to deprive people from anything.

But however, you have to trust people´s OWN judgment about what they want to see or not.. Even learning of tolerance is a subjective  matter as your understaning of  tolerance might be a waste of time for others as others might have had that experience already and wont add anything  valueble. 

If a function will make people more free and gives more freedom  of choice is  GOOD THING.

I still fail to understand why giving power to the people for their own use would  BOTHERS others.

We are doing this for your own good hands.

Nobody is trying to stop you reading the posts. That is your freedom and no one is trying to take it away from you.

there is everytime something to learn...our languages, our feelings...

and is a difference between blocking of someone`s PM and blocking his/her posts..bence...

if I dont want to read someone`s post I do not do..very simple

and I am not bothered by seeing her/his name here...why should I be...

it is my choice to read or not

if I dont like a person or I am not interested by her/his posts I simply scroll down....

Then why are you objecting having that type of function? That is my point..

handsome, if you would like to suggest this to admin then you might want to send him a PM.  He takes care of all the technical content and he may like your idea. 

Might I suggest in the mean time not reading posts from people who annoy you? I know it´s hard but if someone/something is upsetting you so much that you can´t even stand to look at it their posts then you should probably not read them at all.  Or is it a matter of not being able to pry your eyes away from the train wreck?  

I thought that you  read these pages and evaluate the suggestions.

And yes, it is my suggestion  and that function might be quite cool and useful.

As far as your suggestion, yes of course you always have that option for not reading. But I have failed to understand about what you mean by "you can´t even stand to look at their posts then you should probably not read them at all"? what is it you are suggesting exactly?

I think the problem really is that some indivuduals are not following the rules and posting just a link with  afew words and calling it a news item or copying and pasting a paragraph from a website. As fasr as I am concerned it is a junk. Even they are not going through a little bit of effort to translate.  In my view it is lowering the quality of the posts and cluttering the view. Since we can not complain all the time to you about this like kids and you as you mentioned, do not have enough time for monitoring and letting this happen, I thought this functionality could be a solution. 

 I did read/evaluate your suggestion and I thought I gave you a good suggestion to PM admin.  He is the one that can add this feature and it is quicker to just PM him rather than waiting/hoping he will notice your post. 

Also, it is obvious that you and other members have very different opinions.  That doesn´t make their posts "junk."  Lastly, I didn´t mention anything about you complaining like kids.  I don´t mind helping and I thought that is what I was doing by making my suggestion.

As I said, you have made that ´I am calling their posts junk because I disagree´ up and in my view, you are stirring. And you clearly dont have time to check. You yourself mentioned that. 

Others not agreeing with my suggestion? Well it seems like that. However I dont think they are able to explain why they are against it. Clearly the arguments they had, were NOT right and they all had their answers.  Since we all know that ganging happens here so often, and being in a gang is nothing to do with the truth, I will stick to my own idea : That functionality can give more freedom of choice and more freedom of choice can not be wrong. That is my truth and that is not going to change. 

I am sincereley not sure about how  sincere you are  when you say you are trying to help..

 Not sure why you are so offended by my suggestion.  I do not have the technical expertise nor the authority to make changes of that nature to this website.  My powers (for lack of a better term) are very limited.  I will let admin know of your suggestion...OK? 

And BTW, I don´t like your suggestion...not because I am part of a gang but because I think you can simply choose not to read certain people´s posts.  However, despite the fact that I don´t like your suggestion, I tried to help you get in touch with someone who can actually help you with it.  I´m such a jerk, uh? 

Also, just because I don´t like your idea doesn´t make it a bad idea.  Perhaps admin will agree with you.  I was simply stating my opinion.

It is nothing to do with your suggestion. It was more like you stirring and telling the things I never said. I explained what they are in the other post. (and you call it helping.. Thank you very much.  But please dont help in the future)

There is an ignore button for example and it works with the PMs only. With the same logic of yours that function would  be  unnecessary because you also have a choice there about not to read. But we know that the function of blocking users sending you PM is quite useful.

Anyway.

Even if you do, you probably wouldn´t consider doing it.

It requires changes to database design and code changes in many places. I don´t think admin would consider doing it to make one guy happy here.

I am not sure it is possible to make anyone happy here!  

İ have to disagree with this idea because it is unnecessarily.This is site for learning turkish language and not facebook.Also if you put some users on ignore you may not see some useful informations by them.Just simple don´t read their posts and problem solved

It is YOUR choice for  blocking or not blocking the people. This is not a facebook. Agreed but for many of us TC is also a social media. TC is a place where we like being. You think it is unnecessary but I am sure it will be necessary for some and it will be useful. 

It is like talking about a legislation about disabled people. Normally it wont relate to us but making their life better for them does NOT take anything away from us.

It is the same. If there was  function such as ´ignore user´, NOTHING is taken away from you. That is why I fail to understand the objections. It would  just be more freedom of choice. AND "freedom of choice" IS A GOOD THING.

What bothers me in this idea is that if you blocked a user from your sight (which would be your free choice I agree) and saw only a part of the texts in the forum as a result many other posts would not make sense either. The texts in the forum form a textual corpus and you cannot separate a part of it (at least without seeing it) and not miss something else also. One stupid post can become a reason for a further discussion, sarcastic comments (possibly in another thread) or a luscious fight which you might not like to miss.

You are joking but there is a seed ot truth here. Look at the translation requests. What is the greatest insult you can do to someone these days: delete her! It is a sneaky act, too easy to commit, too difficult to bear.

Here is a block button for you handsome. When you want to block someone come here and imagine that you are blocking him. I am sure this will give you some satistification and some peace of mind
