ok random question
I am translating a recipe from my turkish recipe book and am fine with the words , but am getting confused with the measurements..
The recipe is using water glass..tea glass...and coffe cup as measuremnts for almost everything . (both liquid and solid food).. i know that obvioulsy the turkish tea glasses are much smaller than ours, but does anyone have a clue what it might be equal to . i cant figure out how much , oil , milk butter , flour etc to use
if i use my tea or coffe cup it would be very very wrong
Ok since no one has answered this yet, im actually measuring them for you now.
With liquids
Coffe cup is .76 ml
Water glass 200 ml to 250 ml
Tea glass 200 ml
As for solid food, we use same containers for them.
With butter for example you just fill the glass with it, and here you have your measure
Ãm not a Turk but some how im sure that is the way things done there.
à remember when i used to ask Mom for a recipe or something, i try to ask about exact measurements, im not an expert
With my mom, i would even settle with water glass thing or coffe cup, but she just say..almost 2 glasses for example..and if its firm add water/ milk, and if its juicy add flour for example
And i go
Mooom...how much almost is almost ! lol
She says, ohhhh its easssyyyyy, you will know it !
So water glass..tea glass...and coffe cup ..etc are just faiiiiinnneeee by me lol
We almost use metrics measures only with new recipes, but ours ´traditional´...its easy, and we know/should know it lol
Amazingly, we actually do
Ps: Guys, if you have any modification please do.
