Quoting aenigma x:

its traditional for many people to return to their home town to vote.

I may be wrong though...

Its not so much as traditional, it just depends on the city you are 'subscribed' in. For example, Kadir studies and lives in Izmir, but because his official address is still in Ankara, he has to vote in Ankara as a citizen of Ankara. If he decides to really settle down in Izmir, he could change his registration and from then vote in Izmir as a citizen of Izmir.

I think many people are still very attached with the land they grew up, or like Kadir have all their family-ties there anyway, so they dont change the city they are registred in.

Çok tesekkurler!
Dilara

This song is from Sezen Aksu.

I dont really have hope to be able to translate, but Ill give it a try.

Tanrı istemezse yaprak düşmezmiş
Tanrı istemezse insan ölmezmiş
Sen Tanrı mısın beni öldürdün
Eşime dostuma beni güldürdün
-
If God doesnt want it, leaves wouldn't fall
If god doesnt want it, people would not die
Are you god? You killed me
You made me laugh about my partner, my friend (??)

Vicdanının sesini dinle bak ne diyor
Senin için bir can gidiyor
Vicdanının sesini dinle bak ne diyor
Senin için bir can ölüyor
-
Listen to the voice of your conscience, look what does it say
For you a soul goes by
Listen to the voice of your conscience, look what does it say
For you a soul dies

Allah öldürür dünyadan alır
Sen beni öldürdün hayatta bıraktın
Cehennem ateşi ahirette olur
Sen beni dünyada ateşe attın
-
Allah kills and takes from the world
You killed be but left me in life
The hell-fire happens in the other life
You through me in the fire in the world.

Senin için herkes kötü söylüyor
Söylemesi kolay bir de bana sor
Seninle yaşamak güzel şey ama
Senden ayrılmayı gel de bana sor
-
Everybody talks badly for you (?)
It is easy to say, just ask me
It is a nice thing to live with you but,
Come and ask me to leave you.

Additionally, you seem to have a great deal of expreience of pornography.

One should know what one is talking about before opening his mouth, so I could only find a compliment in this sentence.

Besides, have you never been bothered by pop-up advertisements?

So by myself on my will, I will never watch porn.

You have the choice to say 'No' when your husband asks you to watch with him. As long as you keep saying 'yes', you are watching porn on free will.

This is exactly where some Turkish men draw a line.. the girls that are potential candidates for marriage and the girls that are just for fun.

For anyone who has seen the film Duvara Karşı/Gegen die Wand, there is a scene where this becomes rather clear: When Cahit, a Turkish man who has cut himself loose from Turkish traditions and has taken over western morals, sits around the table and plays a game with the men from his new family, the convresation turns to sex. The men talk about how they 'fuck whores' and Cahit simply asks why they dont just do their wives. The Turkish men get furious, you cant talk about 'fucking' and your wife in the same sentence.

Fucking here may seem as a bit extreme word, but it does show that the Turkish men in this film are pictured to distinguish (hard?) sex and their own Turkish women.

Well, I have lived in Turkey for around a year, being a young blonde girl. I cant say I have ever experienced any such thing. Upon arrival, Kadir made a comment about how I stared around me and smiled all the time. I didnt really understand what he was saying, till I realized that the Turkish girls have this certain 'look': they look straight ahead of them and they dont smile unless thye talk with someone. One could even find them looking angry or arrogant. You should try it. Maybe it is because you are too busy looking in front of you and dont realize being stared upon, but I havent experienced being stared at since.
