I have one follow up questions. A very easy/basic one, but it´s just something I´ve been wondering about. It´s regarding the sentence Þu anda evdeyim.

I´m wondering why it´s "þu" and not "bu" - I have used "bu anda ..." in one of my translation attempts, and it was corrected to "þu anda" but to me "þu" indicates certain remoteness in place/time so I´d translate it as "that moment" and "bu anda" would make more sense to me for "this moment".

So, I guess my question is: Is "þu anda" a set expression? Is "bu anda" ever correct to use? How would you differentiate between the different meaning in 2 sentences:

- I´m not home at this moment (like right now).

- I wasn´t home at that moment (let´s say it´s more remote in time).

Let me try from a learner´s perspective (hopefully somebody will improve on it if I´m not explaining correctly)

anlýyan or anlayan is a present participle form from anlamak - to understand

to form the present participle of a verb you add - (y)an or -(y)en to the verb (stem only or extended)

what the present participle does, is it changes the verb from a verb to an adjective or a noun

so anlamak (to understand) changes to anlayan/anlýyan which means "understanding"

you would use the present participle to describe other nouns, for example anlayan insanlar - understanding people (people who understand)

you can also use it as a noun, without the noun it describes, for example, anlayan or anlayanlar - those who understand

anlatýr is the verb anlatmak (to explain, to tell) in the aorist form

So I would break your sentence like this:

Þu hareket - this action (I think it´s better translation that movement, motion)

Þu hareket çok þey anlatýr - this action explains a lot/this action says a lot

To whom?

anlýyana - anla-y-an-a (dative case) - tho those who understand, to the understanding ones

So the whole sentence is:

Þu hareket, anlýyana çok þey anlatýr.

This action explains a lot to those who understand./This action says a lot to those who understand.

I think hareket can also be translated as behavior, at least according to the dictionary, so it´d depend on the context as what you want to use.

Awww, great, I was thinking "þu hareket anlýyan" is one phrase and couldn´t make sense of it. But it´s really "Þu hareket, anlýyan ...". The different punctuation can be confusing sometimes .

Anyway, I have a question. You wrote anlayan and Taz wrote anlýyan. I´ve read that when you add the participle -(y)an/-(y)en you would narrow the preceeding vowel from "a" to "ý". So my question is, is it also correct to keep the vowel "kalýn", meaning to say anlayan instead of anlýyan. And also, what is the correct pronounciation, with "a" or "ý"?

I asked the question because I saw that on google, there are some links with "sana mecburum", for example:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1059253/ - apparently it´s a title of a movie. I just couldn´t make sense of it based on the dictionary definition of the word.

I really appreciate yours and everyone else´s explanation, I think I´m gonna steer clear of saying sana mecburum any time in the near future lol.
