if you ask the "who/what" question to verb, the full answer is always the subject in turkish.

there are more questions asked to the verb (for verbal sentences) for other parts of the sentence.

Hastanede geçen aylar hastalığın kontrol altına alınmasına çok az katkı sağladı.

katkı sağladı: yüklem

ne katkı sağladı? : "Hastanede geçen aylar", özne (subject)

neye katkı sağladı?: "hastalığın kontrol altına alınmasına", dolaylı tümleç (-e, -de, -den)

nasıl katkı sağladı?: "çok az", zarf tümleci

for different sentences, "ne zaman", "nerede", "niçin", "ne ile"... questions need to be asked.

Quoting Abla

The months at the hospital did little to arrest the disease.

(Can aylar be the grammatical subject here?)

"Hastanede geçen aylar" is the subject, not only "aylar".

Başbakan Yardımcısı Bülent Arınç, 4 senedir planlanan İngilizce haber kanalı için Genel Müdür İbrahim Şahin’in resmen çalışmaları başlattığını duyurdu.

Adının ne olacağına karar verilmeyen kanal için  Arınç, “şimdilik TRT News olarak adlandıralım, bu kanal inşallah CNN International ve BBC’ye de fark atacaktır” dedi.

Once i heard a group of turkish people talking about marriage. They were currently in USA. One of them said i am going to marry with an american girl soon. I said good, but why do you marry with an american, why not a turkish girl. He said because i will get permanent resident then. I asked but does the girl know about your intention and still wants to marry you. He said: no, she doesnt know. And I left the conversation but in my mind i thought what a disgusting relationship this is...
