if someone is afraid of something now or a few minutes ago, he says "korktum". It means "i have been frightened."

if someone is telling a story about himself happened long time ago, he again says "...korktum". It means "i had been frightened." or "i was afraid of xxx at that time."

it is an old news.

this 1500 years old one was held in military for about ten years and most probably seen as uncritical. that is is why it is introduced as something extraordinary, actually it is a regular bible.

there was another bible for about 2000 years old, carefully examined and partially translated, held by turkish military again, never ever introduced to public for being critical. its translator told it to TV´s. This bible were found in 1983 in eastern anatolia and and now it is lost as expected! i have met someone knows perfect arabic, both traditional and ancient, even arab natives dont know that much. but the problem is he cannot speak arabic! he understand when someone speaks arabic, or any book from library new or old, espceaially old ones.

this is a common problem, and the solution is practicing with a native about one year! it will be hard in the beginning, try to make sentences at kindergarden level first. if there is no native around, find a converstaion book and memorize the common sentenses. from hearing tv, try to repeat common sentences to yourself. these methods will make you self practise.

Between the first two consonants, most of the time there is a hidden "ı" or sometimes "i" sound. If you are not sure, use "ı", that will fit %90.

Oh man, this is even sooner than I expected:

turkish-deputy-speaker-mixed-gender-education-a-mistake-to-be-corrected.html

Deputy Parliament Speaker Sadık Yakut said on Wednesday that Turkey made a mistake in allowing coeducation and promised that efforts to correct that mistake would come soon.

Delivering a speech at the Turkish Parliament´s 14th International Forum on Children, Yakut said, “Turkey made a historic mistake in allowing the education of male and female students at the same schools in moves toward Westernization.”

He added that there are Western schools in Turkey where coeducation is not allowed.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan set off an international controversy in early November when he spoke out -- and threatened government action -- against male and female students living together.

once i read somewhere, in a western country, randomly all students in a class were girls. the next year they were mixed with boy students. the same teacher were still teaching them and observed the difference. the teacher said that girls success in education became weaker, their behaviour changed, raising their finger to answer questions or ask more questions became less then previous year. and they became more silent.

anyway, i dont say that boys and girls should be seperated but there is no research about success of mixed gender education. at least there must be an alternate option. if i were i girl, i would prefer going to a high scholl all girl students inside. there is no option for this.

from my experiences: two of my teachers thought mixed gender education is not enough. we should make them more mixed. in my class, there were double chairs, i mean always two students sit side by side. our female english teacher said from now on everybody in the class have to stay one boy one girl. after that many problems began. girls begged their teacher, we dont wanna sit with such and such person. the teacher insisted and forced them to stay. next week some girls had big problems with some boys and started to cry, they said they cant bear it anymore. after all we returned back to our naturel sitting position and everything got normal.

"Kendileri iyi bir yüzücüdür..."

"Kendileri iyi bir yüzücüdürler..."

Both sounds correct to me but i prefer the first one.

I think, we are not talking about a real plural, so using singular or plural addings isnt a problem.

In my opininon, traffic signs should be in local alphabet and writing system BUT under that writings, at least in important ones it can be written in english or english/french both in a smaller size, maybe half size. In countries using latin alphabets, for local names this isnt necessary but for important signs such as "STOP" multilanguage preferred.

An example from cambodia:

hazırlık sınıfı: preperation class, prep class, prep. Only a foreign language is studied there.

hazırlık okulu: preperation school: all prep classes in one building seperate than other buildings usually seen in universities. mostly foreign language courses all year long go on there.

Horoza sormuşlar, yumurta mı tavuktan çıkar yoksa tavuk mu yumurtadan çıkar diye.

Horoz, ben işime bakarım!, demiş.

Whatever the root was, current meaning is the most important thing.
